car looks great. i think you can get a wood look film that sticks on and then have clear coat sprayed over, not to sure about the white walls though, your rims look the bollocks

No not fablon, 80's horrid gear, i always got air bubbles when i had to cover things with that stuff

No it is Fablon I promise - a guy on e38 made his Mk1 Jetta into a woody with the stuff.
Like applying any large vinyl you have to spray a fine mist of very weak fairy-liquid solution onto the panel before applying the vinyl. The sticky surface then floats on the film and can't get grab the surface you're sticking to. You can then move it to your hearts content and easily remove any bubbles. When it's in the right place you 'set it' with a heat gun (or hairdryer). You'll never get bubbles fitting any stickers like that.
Obviously you could use thin veneers of wood and bond them on but as this is all completely theoretical and I have no real inclination to turn my tourer into a sideboard it's not a problem anyway.
No more pictures yet chaps - you can wait until it's finished and I'm pleased with it. Needs engine swap, coilovers, brakes, respray and a retrim first though.
