hi Guys, i joined this forum a while back, but i hardly ever posted. im more active on the South African forums.

Sooo after spending years of doing research and hustling/building parts, my replica C2 2.7 is almost done.

it started off as a 1989 Royal blue 325i.

work done-

respray
new wiring harness

budget 2.9 conversion-
86mm opel pistons
e36 328i crank shaft
e30 325i rods

head-
288 cam
ported and polished
workz adjustable cam pulley

new interior- standard
new suspension parts.

extras(non of these were available in SA:

heated seats
premium sound (im not too sure if i have the right head unit)
rear blinds
map light mirror
Headlight wipers
16" Alpina alloys including the spare wheel.
Genuine Alpina cluster
replica C2 2.7 badges
replica gear knob
Alpina vin tag- i might not be able to use this

alpina parts are almost non existent in South Africa, so i made my own valve cover, badges and shift knob

[/img]Image

i got all my electronics to work
[/img]Image

[/img]Image

i needed 2 center caps, so i made them out of resin

i still have a few things to complete later this year:

*install my heated seats(vital in Africa)
*figure out how to get an m30 dogleg gearbox to work on my m20 block( i cant get the 525e bellhousing here)
*new exhaust
*coilovers

Thank you.
cnc, then sandblast and powder coat them.
when i get them back, i either sand the lines and letters or i mill them for a machine finish

Was there ever such a thing as an "original" alpina rocker cover? I thought they were all aftermarket.

Great fabrication skills there. Bet there could be a demand for those center caps.

i have no clue. we got it started and that was it. i never drive it yet.
i also have no idea what to expect. this is my first ever engine build.
prior to taking on this, i only knew how to install brake pads and disks.

there is a demand but i have not advertised them yet.
they don't always come out clean and machining and sanding is not my strong point.

as soon as i get them right, ill list them on ebay account

so after demolding, this is what they look like due to air trapped in the mold:

Image

i use body filler to fill the holes and imperctions

chunk missing due to trapped air in the mold. it still fits on the original cover

demold to early and it will warp, sand off too much and you will get an uneven surface. the badge wont sit flush
Image

and the reason why i dont sell them yet- poor finish.
