Thanks gents..

All that hard work has definitely paid off... Im still surprised at how much fun she is to drive... only 136bhp but she weighs nothing!

That M42 is a great little engine...

Ye, it's looking great now after all that work. Looks good with those side skirts, just right.

I haven't settled on wheels yet - Im just using the ones I collected through the restoration! I think I will eventually get a nice set of BBS maybe style 5s.. we'll see...

I will be doing some work on the M3 over the winter and that will leave the piggybank empty for some time so it will be a while before I swap wheels... :(

Wheels sure are a sore point! No pleasing everyone!

I'm not as fond with the oem bbs wheels as i thought I'd be.. they look great on the m3 but look old fashioned on the iS.. I guess this car is simply too cool for those wheels!

The wheels in the pic were from the second iS I'd bought and later sold. They were free.

I'm saving up to get a nice set of bs style 5s or something like that. As long as they don't compromise the handling in any way..

I'm all about the driving....

This is me all the way! I dropped mine 60/40 on H&R + Bilstein B8 combo and everyone I speak to asks me when I'm going lower.. Go lower and not be able to drive the car you mean?!

My height is perfect for me and my driving style! I don't want to have to watch every bump in the road and scrape over anything over a couple of cm's in height..I want to drive the car!

I read a quote once and its perfect "Do what you want because you will probably get criticised for it anyway" :thumb:

Looks good for a first resto, well done.

Just so you know, style 5's are 5 stud

That's a great quote. I don't mind the differing opinions - that's to be expected.
I also had some guys asking if I was going to go lower - when I say no I tell them to look at the oil pan on the m42 - then they know why. Besides, the car handles perfectly as is.

5 bolt? Damn...

Split, I'f I'm not mistaken, this is the car you painted using rattle cans?..... Paintwork looks perfect, considering, if that is the case! Great work and result too :)

Thanks Gert!
The rattle cans were only used during the prep/primer stage. Apparently the ones we have here are much better than the ones available in the U.K..They were very easy to work with and did a great job.. The final paint was done in a pro shop by a friend using DuPont Chromax Pro paint - very expensive but only one coat required...

Ianev:
I may put the bbs wheels back on but I think I will have them redone in black first..and sorry the M badge is staying - the car more than deserves it considering how much work I put into her.

Hi Norm,
I hope all is well with you and still enjoying the iS.
Quick question for you: can you tell me the make and size of the alloy wheels that were fitted to your iS when you bought it and trailered it home please?
Thanks
Jim
