Good answer but when it drives like shite you can think, my god I wish I had some standard 15 inch bbs! Any rust pics yet :D

17" Alpina reps suit the E30 down to the ground, that's why they are so popular, and neither of my E30's with 17's on handled shite.

Just for once it would be nice if someone bought one that wasn't falling apart under the kit. Good luck with it but Another +1 that Alpina reps look cack. :D

you not driven one with 15 bbs fitted then, cabs are the last word in handling in the e30 world though, saggy springs to mind

That car looks lovely.....

I do think the 17" alpina reps look good BUT they drive like utter shit.... If they made 17 inch wheels that rode well I don't think anyone would object. It may seem like a good idea, but you will regret it. 16" alpina wheels on the other hand are really well made and suit the e30. 15" bbs are REALLY nice to drive in

The current wheels are not genuine BBS, they are replica RS's made by Dare or Lenso or some other lesser company.

Good luck with it all and another +1 on removing the kit for a peek.

fully agree, ive had and driven a car with 17" reps, they look ok but the drive and steering/cornering is shiite , ok for a straight line cruiser

at the end of the day, 16" genuine alpinas that need a refurb cost double the cost of a brand new set of reps, we all know its big money but theres a reason, theres also a reason a used set of reps go for £150 - a cheap lookalike wheel , not agreat drive or a decent wheel

its comical if you post anything anti rep on ebay, you get abused and a load of comments

i just see them as a "fake" , same way i see fake clothes fake handbags etc...wouldnt wear crappy fake clothes, and i certainly wouldnt put fake copy wheels on a nice bmw !!

15" are so much better to drive with

which is also a reason why theres equally or more that bin the crappy reps in favour of 15" bbs and flog them cheap

not to mention the way 17" munch lower insides of rear tyres after a while

crappy cheap plastic center caps are also rubbish and crack and split easily

they are rubbish wheels imo

Those BBS's might be replicas too, as it's hard to tell from the pics without seeing the stamps. They look good though, I would probably keep them.

+1 for 17" Alpina reps being crap. Most often you see them on chaved up E30s with tinted windows and angel headlights.

15" are a good choice, but I think they look a bit too small, so my personal choice is 16", although I've been driving on my 14s for more than 2 years now lol

Nice find. Must feel good after a year of searching.

I know it feels like everyone's pissing on your parade, but it really would be a good idea to get that kit off to check underneath.

If your storing it until next summer you're clearly committed to looking after the car, why not take the opportunity over the winter to have a check? And if it's all solid, great. Gives you a chance to clean everything, get a fresh load of waxoyl on and you're a happy man. :)

Good advice, protect your investment and ensure nothing lurking is left to fester and get worse , there will be something to find, probably lots if your brave and thorough enough

Good looking car well done.

But FFS the amount of "forum experts" (ex as in hasbeen, spert as in drips under pressure) who get on their soap box & bitch & moan that 17" wheels kill the handling is unreal,

Have they ever thought that if the car is on its original 25yr+ springs & dampers that it very well could be those that are "affecting" the way the car handles???

I mean, I've got 17" compo cxn's (17 x 8.5) on my e30 with all brand new top brand suspension & I've never had any issues with how the car handles.

Sorry but it gets right on my tits,

Anyway, fantastic looking car, hope you are happy with it as that's all that matters.

Also, as for rot?? Yes the tech 2 kit does hide it well.

I guess I was lucky as when I took the kit off my sport at the start of this year all I found was a little bubble on the bottom on the drivers side wing, & yes did pull the carpets out & the dash & found nothing,

Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't, luck of the draw really.

I couldn't agree with Steve_k more, your Sport looks great and most importantly it's yours so do what you want to do with it and enjoy it. If you buy some Alpina reps and decide for yourself that it doesn't handle as well as you'd hoped then at least you haven't spent a fortune and shouldn't have much trouble selling them on.

Whatever you do, be sure to keep those rust perverts wanting more - with any luck you'll have a decent and clean shell under there if you do decide to take a look under the kit. My latest one is almost completely solid, floorpan and all, with only a 20p sized easily fixed rust hole on the boot shut so it goes to show that decent E30s are still out there! Just get out there and enjoy driving it!

Personally prefer the BBS, but that's me :) Apart from that, looks great.

Btw, have you sold them or still have them somewhere? I might be interested
