New to the forum, here is my 1991 M3 Cabrio Individual, one of the last six built. After literally a decade searching for my dream car, I came across this gem in Germany. It was in horrible condition, so I spent four years restoring it. Did everything myself except for paint and interior. Thanks.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words. I must say, the whole restoration process was a labor of love on this car, I left absolutely no stone unturned, not one corner cut, down to the smallest detail. It was very expensive and time consuming, but it didn't matter, I was restoring a car that I've loved and admired since the late 80's. I was meant to find this car!

I've got a ton of pictures chronicling the whole process that I will start posting if you guys are interested.

Also, an article in the magazine of the BMW Car Club of America magazine, Roundel was written in 2011, I could post the link also.

This particular M3 cabrio was a special order from BMW Individual. The paint color is Laguna Green (226) but with a blue offset, which you can really notice in full sun pictures.
The extended leather interior includes the dashboard, upper and lower steering wheel cowls, lower dash, A-pillars, header and the glove box, which is also lined with suede. I knew right away I wanted to restore the car and that it would be a daunting task. The most difficult was convincing BMW M in Germany to reproduce the entire leather interior from the original 1991 patterns. It took me over a year and half to finally have them agree to doing it, but it was well worth it the groveling. There is no other shop that could have reproduced the parts exactly like they were in 1991, especially the dash, etc.

Looks like £80-100'000 to me. That's no tonced up old snotter though - that is brand new. Fantastic attention to detail, and almost too good to use.

Just look how good those colours work, and how good a Wiesmann hardtop can look once its painted to match. And that interior, just beautiful! Loving the use of standard BBS M3 wheels too, no aftermarket nonsense! Does the car now match the original build details that the VIN brings up?

I have not posted a restoration thread anywhere, and in fact, this is probably the most information I've put on-line about the car.

Here are some from when I first started taking the car apart, noting this is a small garage with no lift. One shot shows the paint label "BMW SONDERLACK" which signifies an Individual product.
Please tell me when to stop, I could go on forever.

Dare I say, it looked like a pretty decent car before you started ! I am led to believe than unless you are Bill Gates, it is a VERY difficult and VERY expensive bureaucratic nightmare to import a car less than 25 years old that was not available in the US . Are you Bill Gates ?

Agreed. Here in the states, only the BMW hardtop was available.
I found this Wiesmann one finished in Laguna green, in Germany and brought it in not long after I imported the car. Of course it was re-finished at the same time as the car.

My whole goal in restoring this car was to bring it back to factory spec., right down to paint overspray and the checker marks. The car matches the build sheet exactly.
