Ollies E30 wagon project

Just purchased my first E30.........
Its a 325 wagon with 128k on the clock and very clean bodywork rust wise.
It has had a lot of neglect from previous owners so isnt in brilliant shape electrically.......and mechanically. Im pretty sure one owner wanted a jap drift car pretty badly as its got a badly fitted induction kit from a nissan, a nismo gearknob and yellow film applied to the headlights that looks like stevie wonder fitted it.
The car has been drifted as its got a badly fitted hydraulic handbrake and a welded diff

that has killed the guibo, prop bearing, diff mount, output shaft oil seal......and im pretty sure one rear wheel bearing is wrecked.................remember kids thats why road cars dont have locked diffs!
So the start of this project will be undoing the neglect. then i can take it down the turbo route eventually.

Pleased to see you you plan to take the eastern charm away from it
That rear valance looks a bit iffy on the corners, especially the toeing eye side.
Good luck with it all..

I owned that car many years ago,
It was bought off a geezer in Cleethorpes with 6 months tax and test for £300 purely for the leather interior, I drove it the 120 miles home with a foooked guibo and one hell of a misfire !
I ended up fixing the bad bits and using it until the MOT ran out, one day I totally lost it in the snow and left it in a field for a month or 2
Assume the miles are incorrect, it had 140k back then

Few pics of todays mincing.
fitted an immobiliser
and fitted a cold air feed for the +50hp jdm induction kit
Next on the list, sort the engine bay out.
then sort the leaking pas rack, replace the stupid pos diff and replace output seal on gearbox and a few other bits and bobs.

Hmm thats interesting. Seems a few bits have been changed since you had it. 13 button obc and headlight wash wipe being two of them.
Yeah it now has (should say had) beige leather and 1 front leather bucket.
Guess will never know the correct mileage.

Does look mint in that picture............i have a slightly different style in mind however. Is always a hard choice at the beginning of a project of which route to take.
From previous experience i have learned not to start doing too much at once as projects end up fading to oblivion when that happens.

Did a little bit more mincing yesterday.
Didnt get much done as been dying of manflu...............plus waiting for parts to arrive.
Ordered a new gearbox output shaft seal and sump gasket as both are weeping. Ordered a new lock set to fix the central locking issue, turns out that the only key i got with the car is too worn out to open any door locks and only just turns the ignition so ordered a set of ebay that came with 3 good keys. also ordered a microscan alarm and a new pair of headlight grills as the old ones are ruined.
De-japped the lights
Stupid sticker
Ahhh much better

Well this has turned into a bit of a full on project now haha.......i was only intending to tart it up for now, but the more i dug the more sh1t i found wrong.
Pictures.
Fully stripped the interior and fitted a pair of fia approved bucket seats.
Sunroof is out and welded in a plug, partially skimmed with filler but hasnt stopped raining for long enough for me to properly sand it down and prime it yet.
Tore out the old pos welded diff
Needed to have access to the prop centre nut as the new diff is a small case 3.38 from a z3
New diff all in, just needs another speed sensor as it got damaged in transit and the 188 case sensor doesnt fit the small case diff.
Rot behind the abs pump due to a poorly routed drain hose causing water to pool here when it rains.
Repairs half done.
Watch this space.....

i bought this off topless around 5 years ago this weekend ! I think it was 5, could have been 6.
It had new front wishbones (bmw), m3 lollipop bushes, BMW subframe bushes, good diff, great engine. Went really well, was sad to see it go. Always wanted it back but lost track of it after May last year.
Sold it 3 years ago to the guy in the link below. He did some work on it, but then also the rubbish drift stuff. Did you buy it off him last May?
