e30 retro stance project

At long last I have an e30, iv waited 3 years for my insurance to go down enough that I can afford one, I have a 1991 320 touring which has a fair few little bits that need doing but its a really solid shell which is the main thing I was after, I will get some more pictures to put up soon but iv been mad with qork so just got the one atm, here she is; bella
And so far iv bought some 4x100 to 5x130 adapters
And tonight im collecting these puppies <3

15x7 fronts and 15x10 rear, graku split rims off of a 1980s porsche 911 race car, next thing I have to buy is coilovers, im going to get gaz gold coilovers but I need some advice, how do they fit to the hub? As iv been told theres welding involved but I always thought welding on suspension was a no no due to heat transfer through the oil/gas, does anyone do coilovers with hubs ready fitted? Any opinions welcome, ollie

Hey. Nice Touring - I did exactly the same as you a few years ago with a Laser Blue 320i Touring
I bought a set of GAZ coilovers a few months ago. Very highly recommended, especially over the cheap eBay sets. The Gaz ones can be bought through RPM here on the zone or through their website. Check the trader section. The GHA coilovers will be good enough for you - they still have full height adjustment and damper adjustment.
GAZ construct their coilovers on site for you - if you send a set of front struts they do the welding and finishing to make your front coilover legs. You can choose whether you want separate spring/damper setup on the back, or true coilovers, like the ones in the image below. Note that for a true coilover on the rear, you need to upgrade your rear top mounts.
They come back looking like this:
They go so low you can sit the sump on the ground.
I fear you may have overlooked how far those rims are gonna stick out though - 15x10, plus the porsche adapters is gonna make them poke a LOT. You're going to need to weld some new, wider arches or something to get them to not scrub.

Yeah I want true coilovers on the rear the same as im running on my mk1 nova
And how do you mean with the rear top mounts? What is needed to strengthen them? I didnt know they could get the welding done on the front hubs, that makes life a bit easier as that was the one thing i was unsure on, and sump on the floor is about the ride height im going for so that sounds good to me

And yeah the adapters are 45mm and 55mm at the moment but im getting them machined down, I know theyre goingto be an aabsolute mission to fit but its going to be so worth it

You have to use rose jointed rear top mounts with coilovers at the back, otherwise the strut will just punch through the OEM mount as soon as you hit a big bump.
Good luck with those wheels. You definitely should do a trial fit of those rears to see how much they poke, before spending loads on machining of spacers etc.
Also, love the wheels on that Nova.

Thats fine I will look into sourcing them then or do gaz do them? And yeah the wheels will be made to fit though as it will get the adapters machined and then the camber adjusted and if the worst comes to the worst then I can do arch work to make them fit, and yeah theyre lovely, the nova will be finished one day but its a long term project

do they truly go that low?? it says 65mm on the website. im looking to be sparking all the way up the motorway, will these do the trick?
also, after i get them posted to me complete, all i'll need to do is fit the hub, bakes and ball joints to the knuckle?? correct??

Well mine still have 3" of thread on the leg, and I can't even get my palm under the sump.
You'll also need to press the wheel bearing onto the shaft. Can be done at home no problem if you're careful and take your time. Anyway, not my thread. Sorry.

Thanks.
By the way, I have 9j et20 wheels on the back of mine. And that is the absolute max below a standard arch. Just bear that in mind when your putting big fat adapters on a 10j. Lol

Im trial fitting them tonight, hopefully the adapters are going away beginning of next week to be machined down, and tyres fitted the week after fingers crossed, very tempted to cut the springs temporarily while im saving for the coilovers but not sure on that yet, and I will post some more pictures of the nova at some point, yeah I know theyre going to be a mission to wedge them under the arches but with some stretch/camber and an arch roller they should fit

Not making a train this was just purely a trial fit to see how they would look, each to their own with styles, I understand a lot of you probably won't like what im doing to it but then I kmow alot of people who absolutely love wjat im doing to this so hey ho, thats the way the car scene is these days, why dont you like it? Interested to know peoples reasoning behind disliking it

I can think of a few reasons
1. the wheels dont fit the car
2. your about to fit tyres that are too small for the wheels
3. to make them go round without contact you will have to remove the functionality of the suspension
4. it will drive like a piece of shit
5. a standard 25 year old E30 will drive 10 times better
6. the car looks retarded
7. you will look even more retarded driving it
8. its just shit
apart from that though im diggin it bro....

It's going to look like every other ridiculous played out Mike Burroughs wannabe crapfest on the road. The wheels don't fit, plain as.

to be fair isnt it against MOT to regs to have wheels that protrude past the arches that much? i may be wrong.
but it does look pretty naff

"Mexiflush" - Making no attempt whatsoever to fit the wheels beneath the wheelarches.
Dude, they are far too wide. Cut your losses, move them on to a VW kid who will fit them to a Golf and then break it with dodgy camber bolts, and buy some wheels of a similar style with a better offset.
And i'm from Boreham - come to Battlesbridge this weekend for the Stancism show!

I hope you will make thos adaptors a bit smaller, this is way yo wide.. and I like stance and wide cars...
I'm looking forward to see how you will fill your arches... that wheel is going to feel so lost...
