Looks good from the distance, would be a shame to break it... So yeah, repair the rust and drop the M30 in

The car itself is very tidy other than the spots mentioned. Anyone know any good e30 bodywork guys that know an e30?

Will cost in excess of £2000 to restore the body. This will take ages, and the car will now owe you a lot of £££. Great if you plan to keep, not if you are looking to make a quick buck. Long term, the car will have value, how much only time will tell.
Will cost a couple of hundred to bodge it up and 'hide' the issues and serve it on for £2500 as your 'last price for cash'
Will break well, in excess of £2000 with the right adverts and sales pitch. This will span a few months and you will be wrapping parcels and dealing with lots of idiots/vermin wanting your last price.
Which statement do you prefer, that will be your answer. All depends on you, your circumstances, your skills and more importantly your financial position. People forget that 'saving' these cars cost thousands and it is normally the potless that say 'can't believe your breaking it mate', 'such a shame'. 'oh my god', 'I wish I had the money', 'GLWS'....

My standard response. Have rust repaired, no cause to kill a working car.

It'd only be going one way into my workshop! under it's own steam. The remains would be on low loader leaving it!
Sorry but unless you aim to keep it as a long term classic, you'll lose hand over fist welding it up.

why is it always about the money? you can always earn more, and you certainly can't resurrect these cars. Once they're gone they're gone!

That's it !!! Its only money, you can spend £150 on a good night out on the piss, or easy £60 or 70 up the pub for an eve- do that a few times a month ... , or not do it and spend it on a car instead, that in a few years time youl wish you did, when ones like this can no longer be found..

I'm normally not a fan of the pre-facelifts but I'm really starting to like this one. I guess I'm going to go talk with the bodyshop that has my mini pickup right now and see what they say. Is there not a preferred bodywork zoner that knows his way around an e30? Willing to travel...

Agreed. Better in the garage than the pub.

What about those that don't p15s it up the wall, no longer smoke, don't "powder" their noses but still have mortgages and extortianate school fees to pay? Some people have to make a living and sometimes, every pounds a prisoner.
Theres a difference between restoring a car to enjoy and keep, and spending valuable time, welding up shitters while pouring copious amounts of unspare cash into it, only to sell it on at a loss for some other person to enjoy.
It's the No.1 rule of economics in my book. Priorities.

For me personally that's the best e30 spec and i am amazed that you would want to break such a car , with a bit of tlc you can make a stunning car .As for money i believe you can always earn more save the car .

If you are gonna keep it long term then its well worth saving, if your thinking about repairing and selling on for a profit, you will struggle to break even. You could always offer it up as it stands as a resto project and add a few ££ for your troubles, im sure you will get a lot of interest!

That is the typical pipe dream of an e30 zoner....
A bit of TLC?

These turds swallow money, as I said previously fill it full of Isopon and serve it on!
If you want to do a nut and bolt resto, super I'm all for it, we all are, but unless you plan to keep it you will NOT make any money selling it whole at the end!

(unless you cut corners massively, but we all know that's not a proper resto, that's bunging Isopon in to 'serve it')

do agree, if its to be sold- a tech 1 is to be avoided, if its a care you truly desire to really keep and love- then its worth doing, all i was pointng out- is that it may seem expensive/the money issue, but see it as a hobby, and you can either afford a hobby, or you cant- even at £25 a week/£100 a month plus some spare time., youd get there in the end
but the OP did not mention if it was to keep or move on, only he can decide if he wants to restore one, but if you really do desire a tech 1, then thats really the only option you have, you rarley if ever at all see someones restored/labour of love tech 1 put up for sale, fast forward 5-10 years, they will be a rare sought after breed
