Tech 1 sport semi resto ( all parts removed will be reused )

just got a few bits to put on the old girl

full engine service
feed pipes for the fuel and vent tank
and pipes to this from the tank both rear hand brake covers
a rear pad sensor
tank sender gasket
new tech 2 gator
clips and bits

a freshly died black carpet sweet

a uncracked dash ( thanks trev)
Image
and a fuel tank just in case

back to a busy couple of weeks

ok gonna start now
gonna try and reuse as much as i can ( dont have a pot of gold )
started today removed the front vallence so i could get the old girl on ramps , then out with the exhaust and heat shields then i had a good look at the old girl . 210,000 miles a little corrosion but not bad
pics will follow also got a spare rear beam have new bushes will replace if nessisary as i do not have the tool to do this .

so fuel tank out and it was fooked the seam around the front had split and the pipe for the fuel in take had come away and the gasket for the sender was in three bits .

new tank in tommorow will post pics later :mad:

Good work Dave , get some fertan and get busy with it on the surface rust etc and any rusty fittings or hard to reach bits, is that a brand new heat shield ? I need to get one, looking forward to more pics

no mate just cleaned the one from the car should be ali on ours unless its been replaced with a facelift one , its lighter veroom veroom

Looks decent , had a look at mine when dropped and polished the back box it's a bit crusty but for now

When are you doing the dash ? Any chance you can please take some pics of it all at either side as you remove the trim etc ? Having a bit of a mate trying to get mine right above the glove box

When are you looking at being back on the road ?

ok next up date the pipe between the tanks from hypehose pattern is 30 pound trip to bmw oh yes 44 pound what .
so repair my self

now change from dull grey to black

so after being just too lazy cleaned the engine bay after two weeks after the bady shop came up ok

could you get a block of wood and a weighted rubber mallet and beat it straight ? paints4u touch up paint is good for those areas and chips etc, as are new grille clips if yours are rusting, ony penuts to buy

carpet looks good :cool: looks to be in nice condition aswell, liking the leather handbrake gaitor :cool: (want)

the gaiter was an ebay special cheap from a guy in soton fitted well bit of trimming , goes well with me new gearstick gaiter and knob

so tonight i changed my rear hand brake dust cover nice easy job . not some one in the past had fitted the drive shaft nut and retaing washer round the fooin wrong way so i could not get a socket on the nut at first ,. managed it in the end after fitting every thing hand break is so much better will do the otherside with pics

ok a little update changed the rear beam bushes with the help of dave t special tool .
and all in all not a bad job , best to do one side at a time to allow the beam to drop one side to allow access .
started by removing the wheels , then the 4 6m Allen key bolts that hold the bottom plate in place . then undo the 22m nut at the bottom .
then using a hitting stick with the nut still on the bolt tap the bolt through mine came out no prob .
then prom i had was the mounting was siezed in the reses in the chassis so long bar pulled it down . then using the removal tool one side out in two parts inner and outer. new one fitted little fairy liquid sweet .
same for the other side

just got to do the engine mounts and a cam belt

on the last pic you can just see where some one has cut the rewelded the cup the bush sits in .
