Just curious if anyone else has an E30 in this colour? It did come out of the factory in this colour, and haven't ever seen another one like it

I have a malachite touring. Not a "rare" colour but not one of the most common either.

A mate of mine had a 2dr 325i in malachite with with beige. It was very close to tech 2 325i sport spec by the time he sold it then about a year later it ended up on eBay with heavy front damage then another year later on here for sale repaired!

I had an Agate green 323i Auto 10 years ago - Agate is virtually identical to Malachite. Pacer came with me to buy it from a bodyshop next to Phil Crouch's place in.....Strood.
That had beige leatherzz but cloth type door trims. It was as rotten as a fucking pear but it had an MOT and it fullfilled its duty as a worthless city shitter for Hamburg where it collected a fine display of bird shit. The belt/tensioner/pump and fibreglassing were done at the Heath. :D

C134MDP iirc.

as for the rarity of the colour it is quite common in tourings but pretty rare in saloons I remember a d reg two door in malachite with hartge bits and a very low mileage which was one of the nicest e30's i have seen in recent years again i hope it's still in the right hands.

I remember it for sale on the BMWcc website several years ago.

D registration would be Agate green. Malachite arrived in 1988.

wonder what one would look like with white on, for that classic racing colorway

like a malachite alpina car, white alpina stripes, white wheels. white alpina decals on the front splitter etc

Gold alpina decals and malachite would be preferable.

Nice! Really suits the touring. Quick update on the E30 actually, haven't been on here in a while. One of those "can this day get any worse" kind of stories.
Back in late January, it was giving a bit of trouble, not starting/cutting out kind of annoying stuff. After changing the fuel regulator..hey presto it was cured!....for the first journey. Was miles from home, and it wouldn't start. Nothing was getting it going
So had to get dad to tow me home, in the dark, freezing cold, and wouldn't you know it, i hit the biggest bloody pothole you've ever seen
Ripped the engine oil sump clean open, snapped a TCA, burst the shock, and tore of a brake line. This on top of the not starting problem
But anyway, got it all sorted in the end. As it happens, the not starting/cutting out issue was such a small thing, a wire from the crank to regulate the ignition had come loose, rubbed off the belt, wore away the insulation around it and was touching metal, shorting itself out and cutting the engine off. That little wire ultimately cost me £1,000. But sure, all sorted now and freshly MOT'd 8) :D
