That's a lovely looking chromey. Crazy low mileage for a 28 year old car! Are you getting new bumpers? Apart from the bumpers it looks amazingly clean.

was it an ebay purchase or did you find it on here ?
the colour will be on a sticker stuck to the passenger side strut top mount in the engine bay .
the thing with buying most 4-pots to convert to 24v power is you need to buy 51mm struts and some rear disc brake trailing arms . doing the full conversion properly isn't as cheap as some might think but on the positive side you can buy everything you need from DanThe on here like engine loom conversion, modified exhaust manifolds and custom downpipes ,e36 steering conversion pipes and linkages ,remaped ews delete ecu with 7k rev limiter .
everything is right here on the zone with plenty of input on tap to help you through it should you need it from those who have done it and done it right .
btw i have the bottom of pic rad and 16" pusher fan set up for sale if interested .

Well, had a bit of spare time this week so have removed the engine and box from the E36 donor.
And the main bit......

I found it odd though as the orange sticker on the gearbox (just visible on pic) says ATF
automatic transmission fluid only yet its a 5 speed manual.
Is that normal?

atf is the best fluid to use mate.

Yep, the 2.8 ZF box is the best one to use too

If its the one that came bolted to the back of the M52B28 then yes
Prop and gear linkages go straight in too, you just need a taller diff, ratio between 2.93 and 3.25
Would be nice if the donor came with a slipper

Like the look of the Chromie you picked up Millsy.
Was watching it on Ebay. Was listed a few times with starting bid lowered 100 quid each time....I was just biding my time before I swooped
Dnt forget to pull all the EWS bits out of the scrapper before it goes

I got told that it sold for £935 so he taxed it for the guy to come and collect. As it had been standing since 2004, all it had driven is to and from the mot station.
Since it now had mot & tax the guy went for a drive and the box was slipping (its an auto)
so he didnt buy it.
Im surprised it wasnt bought by you or someone you knew as its a nice non sunroof car.
Should be good when its done, i have it in the workshop now ready to take the engine and box out next.

I had a quick read through some of the paperwork and the original bill of sale is (handwritten) Dolphin Grey and under options, metallic paint is selected.
If i remember tomorrow ill get a pic of the sticker.

Its time to start searching for bits now.
I have already scourced a set of 325i rear disc arms and calipers and i shall renew the discs, pads and handbrake shoes.
I also have a set of 15 bbs wheels to go on.

Been a bit slack with this so just a quick update to say the engine has been sat in the bay now for the last couple of weeks but realised that as my donor is a carbed version i have no fuel system
I have been researching and hopefully got my prefacelift pump and sender sorted
(from an E30 Zone member

)
I have also scourced a 325i e30 exhaust and some modified e36 328 manifolds.
Im also have a modified steering knuckle so not a lot left to find now. Hoping to have it running by next week.
