316i to 325i Sport........can i do it? Change of plan!!!

Well, after deciding to keeping the Cab Design Standard and not doing conversion, i was deciding what to do with this:
After having a look around on the net, i found a 316i 2 door in Zinnoberrot on Copart. It's cat clear and has 122k on the clock, no v5, mot or service history. Did a HPI check and its only got one owner!!!

So this is my new little project!!
Got it picked up today and came back with a flat battery. A quick jump and its running, abit tappetty at first but runs well. It has had some chav inspiration tho with tinted lights & windows, 17" Fox 5 alloy wheels, lowered and Ripspeed tail pipe extentions.
There are a few normal issues which need sorting, these are:
there some slight rot on the rear arches
the scuttle has had a patch of welding which looks untidy
Few dents
Central locking doesnt work
(Sorted)
Hazards aren't working
(Sorted)
Manual Sunroof wont roll back
Centre console has seen better days
Carpet has been burnt from a patch of welding under the accelerator pedal
Get MOT and V5
I'm sure there bound to be a few more issues but first things. Need to get it sorted for MOT and start the process or the transformation.
Anyway, here are some pics:
Will keep you posted.

Cheers mate, loving your thread.
Been abit busy today, decided to take the Fox 5's off as they were really annoying me and looked too chavvy. I put some 14's on that i had on the donor car, which will do until i can find something more permanent. Changed the rear lights and managed to blast the tint off the headlights. As far as it goes, i think it looks 10x better.

i would say that looks twenty times better mate (ditch the eyebrows and stick a chrome grille on and it'll be 25 times better)

Here you go:
bridgemond wrote:Looks much better without the wheels and tints etc. Shell looks tidy enough in the pics aswell. Nice project
Cheers, shell is tidy but needs some patches of welding which i'll get sorted.
Managed to get the central locking sorted. I thought the drivers door lock was broken, so when i went to replace it there was nothing wrong with it. I had abit of play with the sensor and the motor and it seemed to have cured it, also managed to get the hazards working too!!

MurphyE30 wrote:Is the cab finished now then?? would be nice to see how it turned out!
Not got it finished yet. I'm planning to take it for paint at the end of the month so i can get it sorted for my birthday. paint shouldnt cost as much now as i'm not putting the Mtech 2 on.

Just decided to leave it, wanted to see how i feel with the it being standard and go from there. I want to keep it standard as you dont really see many about i think the colour does enough.

Tbh mate i've not done anything since i've parked it up. Just need to put the bits on that i got from you and drop it off at the my mates paint shop.
M3 looks good, CH-R's are amazing but a hefty price to pay for them.

suprised you've still not fitted the bits yet.
Cheers mate, yeah they cost a fair bit but worth it. most mods for the M3 have a hefty price tag tbh.
Good to it passed the MOT, keep the updates coming!

Well after a lot thought and playing around i decided to keep the 316i as it was and sell it to a friend. I decided to buy this:

Picked it up tonight from Bradford and it drives really well. Got it back late tonight so will get some pics up tomorrow and let you know the plan of action.

Cheers Mate!!! Lol, this one is definitely getting finished.
As Rav has kindly pushed it i will explain all, lol.
First things first, i will try and get it MOT'd tomorrow, need to get some plates and put the bumpers on. My paint guy is prepping the Mtech 2 kit and will start to strip the car ready for a respray.
After that, i will fit the diff off the 325 ad possibly the engine too.
