My Project 320i (Just been painted)

Other than the induction kit the engine is still pretty standard.
So far Ive fitted the Rymax front/rear bumpers and sideskirts. Then I fitted the E36 inspired wheel arches and have still to fit the front lower splitter. Ive blended the whole lot into the bodykit which took a while lol.
Oh and Ive turned it from a 4 door to a 2 door.
The car was given to me for free as it was ready for the scrapyard. So I started messing around with it and got hooked. This is not the car I drive from day to day, Its really just an excuse to get out the house and get piece from the wife.
UPDATE
Ive now got the car painted but still needs a lot of polishing, new rims, new rear lights and some front indicators. i will try and get some better pictures soon, as this does'nt show the true colour.
Dave.

Cheers guys.
Anyone any idea what size of rims I can get without them rubbing. Ive got 17" wheels but was thinking of putting on 18"s. Im just not sure if that may be a little too big and will end up rubbing on the arches once the car has been lowered.
Any ideas?

Dave I love what u are doing. I really like the GTS front. I would suggest techno violet but I've already suggested that to tbmw!!!
If you are going for shows/mag feature then something different -
colours that seem to be 'in' at the moment - baby blues, oranges (metallic or flaked), matt paints (especially black), kandys
flips seem to be on the way out? However nothing beats a really good flip, but they are so much ballache!!!
How about a nice base bright colour with some metal flakes. Or you could do a DTM theme - Jagermiester Orange.
The world's yer oyster m8. My advice is...speak to girls about it...they have a much better idea of colour than blokes do, but again it depends on the look you want to achieve!!!

No need to get your coat mate,
Everyone is welcome here and I think you will find there is an equal mix of those who like modded motors and those who don't. I think most of the objection comes from making rare cars like the M3s, Motosport Cabs, 318is and Sports into modded monsters

Looks like what you are doing is creating something completely different which is a good thing in my opinion.
At the end of the day as long as you are happy with it that's the main thing.
Welcome to the zone

i'd paint it purple. like the colour that cadburys wrap their chocolate bars in perhaps. it would be sweet.
the move from 4 doors to 2 really works. i have a thing about 4 door cars - i don't like them.

Many thanks for all your replys, I will take all your suggestions into consideration when thinking of the colour etc.
placey- it funny that you mentioned the cadburys wrapper as I was holding the wrapper inn my hand just the other day thinking about what it would look like on the car
Im still undecided, but when I spray the car I will post up the final Pics.
Cheers all
Dave
keep up the good work

nice inthey, but a bit pricey true
when have u planed the spray?
at the body shop, they make photocopys of wheels and walk around all day peekin over bits of paper, quite weird them lot

by GabberBaby
LOL
I hope to be able to spray it in about a weeks time, I have a little more to do to the bodywork, but the main problem is that I have a stripped doner car thats taking up some needed space in my lockup. Hopefully I will be rid of it in the next couple of days.

if thereԚ´s anything worth sellin, shift it on here!
good luck with her

Thanks,
The doner car was pretty well stripped. Ive removed all the wheels/windows/interior/dash bits n bobs etc although everything under the bonnet is untouched.
Its a 1988 316i, the engine still runs fine as I drove it to the lockup, but dont really think anyone would be too interested in it to be honest. but its there for the takeing.

The windows still drop as normal mate,
as for the door trims - I have a good friend that upholsters furniture, so he is going to pach up the holes in the door trims where the handles used to be and then cover them in cream leather,, same goes for the parcel shelves and all the seats.
If I buy the materials, he is going to do it for free since I repaired and sprayed his Vectra.

Still not painted it yet zimmer, the guy who was meant to pick up the donor car didnt turn up so its still in the way. Ive arranged for it to get uplifted again on monday by a different guy so I sould be able to get some paintwork done next week.
Cant wait to get it painted and on the road! The next thing to do is some power upgrades,,, not sure what to do yet whether it be bolt on mods or an engine transplant
It depends really on how hard an engine transplant would be and how much it would cost,,, I may end up just getting it chipped and a BBTB.

Sounds like it's going well, unless you have loads of cash lying around for an engine swap go for it because these are the things you would have to think about changing insurance, running cost, the engine swap, ungrading bits on car and the hassel that goes with it, but then again thats the fun about doing a project, if your keeping your 320i i have induction kit, twin dtm for sale and if your thinking about getting your car chiped look for a guy on here called chipeduk, also you got any pictures of you spitter.

sorry mate, Ive not had a chance to take a picture of the splitter yet but will remember to take it this week, I promise!
Your right about the insurance issue,, it the only think thats getting to me with the engine swap and is the only reason Im thinking more along the lines of bolt on mods.
