Thanks for the comments lads
The car is '88 and was originally KJI 777 the second owner had it from 1991 until about '06 or '07 and restored the bodywork as in a fresh coat of paint in the late 90's then parked it in a container for about 10 years. so the shell is still mint! the next guy to buy it never registered it in his name threw a load of money at it as in he got the seats restored, refurbished the suspension and brakes all with genuine parts from the main dealer. He bought an mtec 2 kit for it got it painted and then realised it wouldnt 'direct' fit and lost interest it then lay in his garage until this spring when i fell in with it. i bought it thinking the engine was scrap as it was smoking like crazy a new set of plugs and dizzy cap sorted it out though. the electrics where a mess central locking didnt work drivers door and boot wouldnt unlock, abs light was on, head lights and fog lights didnt work as well as the radio, temperature guage wouldnt climb when ticking over, clutch master cylinder was leaking and the fuel pump was very noisy and intermitently failing especially under load. there was no lsd either it didnt come with one or someone had robbed it. so had to get one right away lol. i had the car pretty much sorted for the start of the summer although the fuel pump is still not quite right but i'll look at it when i go to tax it again next summer i have a fair idea of how to sort it though and have a new pump for it. i refurbished the wheels and fitted a slightly lower profile tyre as well as new -60mm springs all round new badges etc all round and white indicator lenses. i fitted the mudflaps because i am a mudflap man lol im not sure if i can get genuine mudflaps to fit the tech 1 kit but i do agree oem would look a bit more respectable. the only real plans are to fall in with good black leather and a scorpion dtm but i've put her into hibernation for the winter lol my e21 project is taking priority at the minute.

Nice motor Willy
My old man had an identical looking motor back in 90/91 (still think it was the best car he ever bought) the reg number was KIB 3919 (sad the things you remember) still have photos of it!
We unfortunately wrote it off on holiday in France back in the day ..... Minor collision with an arctic (driver fell asleep at wheel and veered into our lane! The old man still claims we would have been killed/seriously hurt if we'd been in anything other than a Beemer!
Enjoy it and do me a favour and give me first refusal if you decide to get rid!!
Rich

That is a cracker. The Tech 1 rear spoiler works better on that than on my standard iS

Does this get parked on the stranmillis road most days? Definately recognise it, and there can't be many tech ones as clean as that in NI!
