why would you take the head off?!
Re:

Im not happy with the way it sounds.. did the valve clearances, wasnt happy.
had someone else do them same prob..
seems quite on idle but once you raise the revs gets a bit chatty, like tappets only slighty heavier.
Im thinking rocker shaft wear?..
Cam wasnt that bad when i looked.
people have said they all sound like that, but i cant belive they did when they left the factory..
any ideas?

i coulodn't comment without hearing it run, they tapped when they were new. They're designed too. The injectors tick as does the valve train. If your M20 ran silent there would be something seriously wrong with it.
the rocker shafts dont wear not that i've ever seen

no chance !!
I have seen your car at a few shows and it is lovely there's something about gloss black
was it originally a Motorsport ? just wondering with it having bubble leather and pre-facelift with Mtech 2 bumpers/kit ?

simon.
Yeah im aware of the injector sound and valve train sound, however a few of my previous m20's have sounded a bit quieter.. would be nice to have this one the same.
so if not rocker shafts.. wonder if valve guides could be the culprits..?

the kit and interior have been added at some stage.
will be changing the interior at some later stage as i think it deserves bit better than bubble, no offence to bubbles..
do you not think these motors could demand similar money to M3's?

i wish they did but they aren't. The RHD bit won't be helping either

I think it's a wierd market with Alpina's, they are always priced well but never seem to sell ?
this one struggled to sell a few years ago for 6k IIRC ? it was lovely, always wished I had bought it
