Black 2 door 325i SE chromie - Valuation?

Hi Guys,

Here is my 2 door chromie, just got back from town325i and its running really really well. He is a top mechanic and he sorted it out for me good and proper... Its had a z3 short shift fitted, front and rear suspension done including all bushes, re-conditioned head, and some brightwork around the windscreens has been replaced. Migrated some leather interior in there too, and replaced the sound deadening. Timing belt has also been changed and she has been given a full service. The exhaust has been replaced with a scorpion back box, but I am having second thoughts about this as it just looks like a boy racers car and ruins the refined gentleman look I was going for. Its a new backbox so if anyone out there wants to give me £80 and come and fit me a standard (brand new) backbox on, I won't say no.

It desperately needs a respray in my opinion and there are so many age related dinks in it with some rust on inside arches so its a proper turd at the moment, but I will persevere as I passed the point of no return. But my eyes water  each time I think about the money I have already spent on it......If I didn't love it I would hate it...we already have a love/hate relationship.

Here are the pics:

That is absolutely lovely. Nice to see you got the car you wanted in the end.

I spoke to town breifly about this car at a meet, and he said it was a lovely old chromie and pretty tidy iirc..

Thanks guys, I know the tech2 is not the original but that steering I can't do without. Just feels so much better to the grip. Nothing compares.

It looks great in black! Not sure value wise I’m afraid.

Is it just me or does the exhaust look too low? Maybe that’s why you’re so conscious of it.

The exhaust does look low, but it doesn't hit anything. Its just that the rear valance is too high, rather than exhaust too low.....just feels wrong for me. I will see if it grows on me in a couple of weeks, else its got to go as things stand.

Beardymat was saying around £500 per side for new inner arches. Thats done properly as per bmw spec. So a grand for new inners, then a respray £1500 ?

plus the many dinks on the bodywork including the roof. losing the will to live at the moment.....fucking moneypit lump of fucking shit!

Did I mention, I have got myself a rattly gearbox now too.....is there any point in this or just stick it on e-bay and cut my losses and never turn to the E30 again.

I will see how it goes.....the more I drive it now (60 miles everyday on the motorway) the more she reveals. I discovered yesterday that when I turn it full lock it makes a knocking noise similar to a cv joint noise, although I am told that it can't be that as the cvs are at the back? Any ideas people?

At the end of the day its a 25 year old car there are going to be faults with it and new stuff cropping up all the time ive spent hours and hours on my touring and its still no where near the standard i want it but stick with it and it will get there

Lol......yeah....I hear what you guys are saying.....

But this also means that my blue one (which is alot slower than this beast Mark put together for me) is really well detailed, auction ends today @ 5:30pm ...I really hope it makes solid money.

Why would you end an auction when everyone is driving home from work?! :?

Re:

Probably because I am really half hearted about selling it.......so if it doesn't meet my reserve, then I'll be kind of glad in a weird way....
:?
