Joke is wasted. Its a 2.5 but plenty of clueless sellers say its a 2.7

. Ps i am using my phone

Unless it has proff it's a 2.7 and how it was achieved, anyone new to e30's can be fooled into believing it's "had the conversion"
Most common seen on ads is "bored to 2.7"! mistake no.1. You stroke them to 2.7 not Bore them.
Next up is the head marking where it states 2.5 /2.7. Must be a 2.7 then? Wrong. Some factory 2.5's came with that head.
You need to go back to the previous owner and find out what he has done to get it to 2.7.
Or put it on the dyno and see what it's making.

hi everbody
im the previous owner of this lovely e30 and i think i made a mistake by selling her as 2.7without the proof as i bought the car the way it is just now and previous owner said the conversion done by him and he didnt had any proof but after i had a nice drive in her and seen the power i believed him as i had few e30s now and she was definitly more powerfull then the e30 325i i had
i never put her on the rolling road
and i only sold her as i lost my garage and i would say she was the cleanest e30 i had

I'll be doing a 2.7 conversion in the near future, I'll bear in mind the proof thing to make sure my car doesn't end up with a thread like this. JBH will keep me right

Hmmm.
Better take some photo's of my 2.7 before it goes back in, then.
Mind, it is only an eta/731 so it probably doesn't matter much.

That white Sport has an Aberdeen registration. Wasn't there a dealer in Aberdeen who did Alpina stuff on behalf of Sytners?
.... Or am I
a) thinking of another town/city?
b) mistaken?

John Clarks in Aberdeen(& Dundee) are the only Scottish agents for Alpina Stu, so your correct on that point.
As to whether or not, they carried out any work for Sytners North of the border, that I am unable to confirm.
I do know they(John Clark) have an alledged, good relationship with Alpina back in Buchloe

OK so its going on a rolling road soon what should be the outputs if its has had the conversion and what would they be if it has not had it the conversion
Re:

171 is factory output
a well sorted 2.7 should make 200bhp but it all depends what conversion it is, an eta conversion using a 320i head may only produce that of a 2.5 but with more torque

Factory 2.5 is 171bhp. IIRC the Alpina 2.7 should make 210.

I get the impression that there is a lot of "guesstimation" about 2.7 power outputs. The only eta2.7 I'm aware of seeing a dyno sheet for is Daimlerman's. That one made 178bhp and had peak torque of over 190.
Also, there are a lot of variables in the way people choose to build their engines. For instance; my old 2.7 had head work (325i valves and ports to 325i size/shape) and allegedly made 213bhp with a BTB manifold and Cat273 cam. I never saw any dyno plots for it, though.
In a few weeks, I'll post figures for my new one, once it's run-in and been remapped.
It's been built for torque rather than top-end, balls-out, power - basically it's a 2.7 bottom-end and 2.0 top-end with a 325i cam and a very light flywheel.

It was a guesstimation, i was looking into having a bash at building one a while ago.
