Ok, progress so far including pics see last page
The plan is get paint less dent removal done, about 7 dents all pushable.
Would also like to find a o/s drivers wing in mint condition dia swart metallic as this one has a unpushable dent in it.
So a small list to get me teeth into, plan is to keep standard and mint up for now and may be in a few years get an M50 lump in her

Ok some progress fitted momo competition steering wheel and works bell spacer from Australia
Got some 15" bbs wheels fitted but getting some better ones as these are in need of a referb
Took the car to peter at swift autos Higher Bochym Cury Cross Lanes, Helston, Cornwall TR12 7AZ. And I am very pleased with the quality of work he has done and a super nice chap as well.
He removed the wing, cut out and welded the scuttle see below and rebuilt the original lip that the rubber goes over and a bit in the middle of the scuttle and waxeolied inside, He blew in the n/s rear arch where i had filed out some surface rust and he also cut out rust near rear toe hitch in the rear valance and the rear of the car behind this area, welded in new pieces, undersealed and painted.
The paint is spotless with a perfect paint match and your not going to believe this, all this work only cost £150 so I gave him a bit more as I was so pleased and they even washed the car.
Rusty scuttle
Perfect scuttle
Nice shiny surface rust free arch
Rust free rear valance with original stone chip effect
Next up is a trip to exeter to see dean at dent cure for some paintless dent removal, below is the worst of the dents on the car which will probably take him 10 minutes to work his magic on and vanish
And also get my e46 steering rack and ecu chip fitted by my mechanic at bovey court garage.
Thats all for now thanks for reading comments encouraged.

Quick update
Got my mechanic at Bovey Court Garage, Bovey Tracey Devon to fit a E46 Steering rack and a solid uj joint, wow what a difference this makes, much easier to catch the back and control the slide, no more crazy crossing of arms and makes driving a lot easier especially on the twistes.
Also they fitted an evolve chip, engine runs smoother, increased fuel economy feels quicker to rev up and lift the limiter.
The head gasket went and cracked the head down the side of a valve, my mechanic rebuilt with a head sourced from Chris Warburton from the zone. Garage also binned the inlet heat plate as this can apparently increase cool air entering the engine. She doesn't burn hardly any oil now that the heads been rebuilt which is a bonus.
Sourced and fitted some near mint 15" bbs + caps as the first set looked rough, with new rubber all round.
Fitted a non corroded wing mirror in d/s/m
Followed the wiki on cleaning the wiper motor and that worked wonders on my sticky intermittent. While at this treated her to new blades and sprayed scuttle trims and front grills etc.
I have got all new adjusters for my head lights which i will fit tomorrow along with some HIDS for the winter.
Also got an original IS lip to go on and some new clips as the current lip is a copy/fake and fits badly.
Next mod will be the 1.9 Z3 shifter.
Then continue with the body work aspects, got a straight bonnet just need a drivers wing and she will be going back to the body shop for some paint.
Think that's about it, really enjoying driving the car and my confidence is building every mile. Now managing to sustain longer controlled slides which is fun.
Will try to get some pics up soon when the weather clears up and I get some time off work/study.

nice one mate looking good, same as my car

,feels nice getting things done on it doesnt it,youl love the z3 shifter ,had one fitted this week and loving it
personly think the momo steering wheel ruins the interior and looks rubbish , get a 370ml tech 2 wheel, would look so much nicer and also they are excellent to drive with
and the is it just me or does the car seem to sit a bit higher at the front than the rear ?
heres latest pics of mine if you want a gander

Andrew its an evolve chip for the m42, ecu no. dependent
Polsta Momo wheel is a necessity as I am 6 foot 5 and cannot get my legs under bmw oem one, and I have always used competition wheels and get good control with it.
Not sure about the ride height difference, thought they just look like that i.e. rear arches slightly lower maby someone can confirm.
Fitted my light adjusters tonight and some new high beam lights as the chrome had peeled off. Now trying to find the tips about aiming that brian moore gave, also did away with the aim control unit as dealer sent me extra adjusters, light ran out to fit is lip so may be tomorrow.

It had a small tech 2 wheel in it when I brought it, first thing I changed my hands were hitting my knees. Comp wheels are my comfort blanket, dont care about the look, Had some big moments in cars with these wheels and i am still here that's all that matters.

looking good
i notice you have a ghastly plastic gear knob, i took delivery of a correct oem 318is gear knob today, £10 plus delivery if you want it ? just to get my money back, it was incorrectly described
also hit up adit- rear head rests were a supers asthetic addition i made to my is, gave a more sporty look a lot more than youd think, quick shift was great too
