My Calypso Tech2

Bought this car on impulse having zero experience or knowledge of E30's whatsoever... bad idea that was.

Image

Got it back to the garage and they found all manner of s**t wrong with it.

Firstly the footwells had given in, so they needed sorting:

Image

The N/S wasn't quite as bad as this, still rank tho, out with the old & in with the new:

Image

Another bit in the N/S arch:

Image

There was a bit more near the battery tray & what seems to be the 'usual' flaky boot, this has just been temp fixed for now as it doesn't appear too bad:

Image

On top of that, the dizzy cap was broken and the HT lead for cylinder 6 snapped off in my mates' hand, so both of those have been done along with the standard service and new air filter - is there an uprated panel filter for the E30 320 that can use the std airbox?

We went to have a look at why one of the rear elec windows wasn't working and discovered the wiring is an absolute mess, wires cut everywhere in random places and no sign of any headunit connection, am currently waiting on a loom from a zone member to fix that.

The exhaust is blowing but can't find any holes so suspect its through the gasket, is there any reason an exhaust from a different engined model would be fitted to my 6-cyl 320?

Image

The target for these bits to be sorted was christmas but it looks like I'm gonna miss that. A bit gutted really as I haven't driven the car since I picked it up almost 2 months ago... can't wait to have it on road.

Future plans - stealthy ICE install, bushes all round, find out what engine code in uder the bonnet...

All comments/opinion appreciated.

Lovely motor. Shame about the rust, and it only being a 320i. :P

Cheers for the comments guys, is the 320 engine widely understood to be wank then?

Got the loom yesterday (thanks to SPADGE) so fitting will begin today and hopefully be done in time for the new year :D

It is your better off sticking a 325 in there and gain with better performance and fueling, only good thing about the 2 litre is its a straight 6 and sounds good

Haha, good spot Alex. Just need a couple of minor bits to finish it off - battery bracket to keep the battery in place & some tweeter mounts for the interior.

Its got lowering springs on it at the moment, how much is a good set of coilovers gonna set me back
