Bloody hell, even enough room to keep the viscous fan!

Looks very nice, must be a missile.

Anyone see this at Gaydon?

This kind of conversion are the stuff of dreams. Really nice that you went for the S54 rather than the S50.

As everybody is saying - would love to see a write-up and any more pictures.

Looks well done.

But I always think the radiators look too close to the engine on a lot of these conversions. I know it's the size of the rad that causes it. Maybe should loose the viscous and have an electric fan on the other side of it.

I always think that about M30 converted E30's some look like the HT leads are touching the radiator.

That conversion just looks factory though. Hats off.

thanks for all the nice replys , for full spec see performance bmw mag in october as it will be in there. this car run full e46 m3 engine , fly by-wire throttle , sports button from z4 m coup , brakes disc from e46 m3 calipers from 840. as for the fan being close to the radiator its not a problem as it comes of just like any other one dose , but we have installed an electric fan in front of the radiator as a back-up,any other question please ask and i will try and answer all

That looks like one hell of a weapon! Im looking forward to the magazine write up. Do you not suffer from the viscous munching into the rad under hard braking?

no the fan has never touched the rad even after hard braking from very high speeds.

The engine is longtitudinal mounted so it was never going to happen. The reason FWD cars do that is because as the crank decelerates the engine is pulled back by the mounts forwards. Crank rotational energy is stronger than most mounts. That's what causes them to move backwards.

On a related note bike manufacturers have experimented with cranks that run anti clockwise to prevent wheelies.

Longtitudinal mounts are of course on the left and right of the engine so if anything the block would be thrown towards the NS.

the s54 engine is approx 2 inches shorter than a m30 engine and is also lighter.

That why honda engiens in cars used to run back wards, until the new generatiion engines.

Very impressive. Is it a electric nightmare to sort out?

yes, very time consuming , if you want it to run the same way as an e46 m3 dose.
