When i picked it up last week:

Got it on the ramp at work:

From running the car just under a week, it has developed a water leak, looks like it is coming from an outlet on the engine block and is running down the gearbox.

Its also had extensive welding work throughout its life, but to what i can see good quality, apart from a few plates that could have been fitted in the floor pan a bit better.

This is my 1st BMW so im learning as i go along with this, but i learn quicly, but i suppose there are endless things about these :)

Im really into the VW scene and have owned VWs throughout my driving life mainly mk1 and mk2 Golfs. So my inspiration for this project would be coming from the 'Dub' Scene.

Plans are to make it into somthing a little bit different, but not over the top. As less = more.

Ill update this as i go along, as im usuing it as a daily just for summer.

Today its going to benefit from a mini detailing session, i will post pics later 8)

What are your plans for the little beaut then?

Not sure yet Ollie, i want to get it slammed on some Proka rims :)

But its going to be a challenge, as i belive you can't lower more than 40mm due to the chassis not being strong enough?

Would a full cage sort that out?

And the touchy subject of getting some coilovers made up?

Interior wise, it smells a little and the seats have lost their feel, they are just too unconfertable on long journeys.

Im defo going with the 'retro' look, but with a little bit of edge.

You can go as low as 60mm using various different springs but if you do go that low then bilstein B6 shocks are a must as they have a shorter damper rod and work better with the lower springs. GAZ, H&R KW and Bilstein all do coilovers.

Who told you the chassis isn't strong enough to take more than a 40mm drop? Thats rubbish.

Some people have gone as low as 80mm and even 100mm but anything lower than 60 will ruin the way the car drives and you'll forever be replacing sumps.

I personally wouldn't go lower than 40mm but 60mm is doable.

That is complete rubbish!

Gaz coilovers are great for the money..

They are comfort seats.. Which is a lie, as they are entirely uncomfortable, get some nice sport seats in there!

I await to to see the progress
