My '88 Sport-a-like

It's been a while since I have posted proper pictures on the forum and as Billing is this weekend it seemed like a good idea to drag the car from it's pit and give it a quick clean up.

I know the car is not perfect, there are rust spots & a couple of areas of lacquer peel but it's 21 this year and has covered 160k so I'm pretty happy with it's condition.

So after taking the photos I grabbed the legal plate from behind the drivers seat & proceeded to fit it for the drive home. Saw a farmer on a crop spraying thingy in the field next to me so thought I had better chip off as I wasn't really sure I should have been there.

Skip forward an hour or so and there is a knock at the door, It's the local police officer. Apparently I had been spotted swapping plates over and someone thought I had been up to no good so he had come round to ask me what I was doing. Opened the garage up for him to see that all was above board and off he went

No not at all Alex. A little wear on the bolster so that's why I keep a cover on it so it doesn't get ruined.

good idea winkeye

i hate having to get into mine when i cannot open the door properly, becuase i'am a short arse i end up having to squeese between the seat and door as the seat is that far forward and i'am paranoid that i'am going to wear the bolster away :o:

to be fair though, if it had been some pikey that had been swapping fake plates onto your freshly stloen car you wouldn't mind a busy body phoning the police.

...plus you have to admit, dave does look dodgey as fook :D

Nice looking jam jar on a nice piece of three ply!

Busy bodies can be a very good idea. I was a busy body once, thwarted the theft of two cars, cheque books, credit cards, two valuable old clocks and a freezer full of food by four scum bags just by walking my dog!

What's with the body bag over the drivers seat?

You have nice taste in interior! Here's mine, not too dis-similar I thought but probably that's where the similarity ends...

Lovely looking sport though bud.

I get the jam jar bit but three ply? :)

Cheers Gents, I'm happy with how it looks for this year. Just a few little details and then I'll start saving for a paintjob.

I have ordered new handbrake & shift gaiters in black alcantara, The company are doing the stitching in blue and green to tie in with the RD theme. I'm hoping they will look pretty sweet but if not I can always dye the thread and just have plain black gaiters.

Btw, It's not a sport :P

Old rallying term, two bits of tarmac with grass growing in the middle ('cos it's only used occasionally and the council only put down a thin layer of tarmac!).

Still a cracking yoke though.
