The Nankang stretches better and does not rub, the Federal does rub so i'm going to change it tomorrow

Fuzzy i know what u mean but the archs would not exsist

U could go 215 with a rolled arch but even then its still bloody close hence the 205 spec

225/45 will fit.. as per alpina's 8J's 50's a bit big though they rub and mud and snow tyres make M52's lively

I run 225/45/16's on 9j rears on standard mtec springs/dampers and can't take passengers in the rear (quote??) as they rub my rolled arches. Not stretched too much but enough to look ok without the risk of a blow-out and I get a decent contact patch. Grazing a kerb is a c**t though

I really don’t get the attraction with this, looks wise it just looks like you have the wrong tyres fitted, practicality wise you have a much bigger chance of doing major kerb damage and you have the chance of the tyre coming off the rim completely

I dont mind the look just too get that out there first.
The only thing i would say if your going for the euro look the car need to be slammed as low as you can go normally on banded 13" steels. This looks the muts imo. Think on e30s it can look nice but too much streach because the wheel is far too wide for the car looks pooh.

You can't fit 13" wheels on an E30, brakes are too big. Cost is the same AFAIK, tyres were already stretched on the wheels when i bought them.

Just be careful where you get it done from

With a 9" rim you can safely run a 215/40 or 205/40 and the tyre wont pop off the rim. This amount of stretch is nothing in comparison to what the VW boys are up to - 195/45 on a 9" (which is silly!)

I have indeed. I've got 215/40's on 9's all round on my IS and on the rear of my touring. I've done 15k miles in my IS with the stretched tyres without any problems and it doesn't get an easy life either.

Either is fine mate, I'm happy with the 215.

i agree also dan, i have even seen a 195 on a 10j.... took him about 6 hours to get the tyres on !

I think liking or disliking is a personal thing...

Those are really streched tires, guys!!!

I have 175/ 70 r14 tires on a healthy 7 inch alloy!

It look nuts as in cartoonish nuts, and it´s great fun, as the rear looses traction more predictably...

I just wish my front tires were more beefier on the sidewalls...

These wheels are doing my head in

Fitted them today, using the 205/50/16 that i got from a fellow zoner but they are rubbing badly(without passengers)

So looks like i'm going to have to fork out for 4 205/40/16 or get the arches rolled.
