New toy

Hi all..

Not posted my motor previously as my old one was a little rough around the edges.. but I picked this one up last week off of gIzzE and loving it :D

Not too much done since I picked it up.. just replaced the orange indicators up front with my clear ones.. replaced the rear lenses to use my old ones with red indicators, fitted the mongoose stainless system (needs slight adjustment as it's not _quite_ level) and fitted my tech2 steering wheel and gear knob.

Is a great car to drive and now pulls even better than it did originally after replacing the chip with the 'mild' one I had off of Speedtouch a few months ago. Needs a clean now though :o:

Few other bits to resolve, such as replacing the n/s headlight with a smiley version, fitting the solid steering guibo (both included in the car sale) and source a o/s front fog light.. but plans are to keep it pretty much unmolested.

going o/t but i was wondering why you randomly insert underscores between words in your posts. i notice you do it quite often? :D

I bet it is rather loud with that back box

Whipsey: yup, already on the todo list :)

Stevo: An iS splitter would be a nice addition, something I'll consider down the line. I quite like the look of a full m-tech kit on them.. but undecided which route to go. Funds is obviously a key factor too.

Dog: Leather's ok, but not for me. My Merc 300TE had a full leather interior.. but much prefer cloth seats and the sports ones in the touring are currently mint. I only picked up a darker grey sports interior a few months ago too that was almost mint condition.. seems a bit like buses.. first there's none, then 2 turn up together :D

fuzzy: Sorry.. "old skool" stuff I guess that I just got into the habit of. The underscores around words in certain applications etc will underline the contents.. much like using * around words makes the text bold etc. When I started on the net, there was no "UBB code"... but I think m$ word also still uses these "special chars" to affect text too.

Felix: Not too bad. Would be louder if it was a scorpion and was the reason I opted for something else as I didn't want it to sound like your average Saxo :) Shame the tail pipes were quite so large though (3.5") but there we go.

Ian

That steering wheel looks so much better!!

I had a Sebring back box on it that was awesome, but it was a 2 piece system and I could not find a new centre box for it without it costing £300+ so went with that system to get a 3 piece system on the car, with the thought that another back box could go on down the line.

I would definitely hunt out and iS lip for it, that would make it look complete.

Nice, 325i tourers are the perfect dog mincers.

Yup, definitely, although I'm not sure if it's fubar now. The horn seems to work once a day and then no more.. but the horn push "plates" aren't very strong anymore. I picked it up cheap a few months ago, so will hunt out another one soon as I definitely prefer both the look and feel of them.

My previous touring's exhaust was blowing like a well trained hooker, so decided that for 300 notes as a one off payment would be a good buy. Being a 3-piece too made the switch over easy, not having to disturb the front pipe :)

Yup, definitely looking (well, shortly). Have decided against an M-Tech2 kit, at least for now.

The suspension setup is so much nicer than the stock stuff I had on my previous touring, that was somewhat of a mix-n-match too as it at least had 2 different make rear shocks(!).. god only know what nutter of a "mechanic" thought replacing one was a good idea :? Roll bars are still set as they were. More cruising it about than ragging it, so haven't felt the need to change the settings.

My littlen likes it too... "much better than your old one Dad and handles sweeeeet".. gotta love kids :D

Will be doing a HID light conversion very soon too.

Ian

Definitely.. especially when some of his favourite movies are the "f*cked n dubious" series and 20" chrome rims are impressive :? :D When I mentioned a kit (as in tech 2), he said "nah, I like the standard look". Maybe he does appreciate real cars too :D

Kinda dreading to see his idea for a first car though in 6 years time, heh.

Ian

Yup,diggin that,I think I will start trying to convince the good lady she should get a touring so I can get rid of that Nissan Almera Turdo I got for her.
Personally I wouldn't put a kit on it and I think you should seriously consider putting a few more phone holders in there Ian
