E30 Zone

After being on the forum for a little while now and owning my car since Feb I'd better put up a hello. I've got a 1988 m3 which was reasonably track prepared when I bought it. My intention was to start getting some trackdays in this year after being bitten by the bug when I took my Audi S2 out to the 'ring this time last year. I shopped about for a while until I sourced this car in Wolverhampton, bought a one way ticket down to get it and drove it back up to Inverness.

It wasn't immaculate by any stretch of the imagination and had seen some armco at some point, but it was exactly what I was after and the price was keen enough. But then there was the problem of this being my first RWD car, in February, on Dunlop Direzzas and it wasn't long (little over a week infact ) and off to the bodyshop it went after running out of skill coming off a roundabout one night.

It was being done as a homer, so I only took delivery of it back today and I can get down to the job of putting back together. The wiring is a complete mess and I'll no doubt be asking loads of stupid questions, but I'm looking forward to getting her running again as soon as possible

Where the hell do all these wires go? (BTW: duct tape isn't going to be holding the whole thing together.)

Looks like a good project, very little work to make it a really tidy car.

Is this to be full resto, meaning no more armco visits??

Thanks for all of the comments. I can't take any of the credit for it though. Mechanicals all carried out by Russ and John at JC Racing, bodywork done at MS Cars.

Needing quite a few parts to get it complete though, but the big and most expensive bits are done, hopefully.

It's now a 2.5 with Alpha N and a carbon airbox, so it'll sound good when it's finished.

Didn't realise it had been so long since I last updated this thread.

Fast forward to December 2016:

Well today was a great day! First time that the car has been back to my house in 8 days short of 2 years. I even drove it for the first time in 6 years, although it was only down the drive way to turn it around for putting it into the shed.

John and Russ arrived this morning after trailering the car up the road. First things first was to wash the salt and road grime off it:





Then popped it back into my ghetto shed:





Luckily while I was drying the car and putting it in the garage, my mate got carried away and cleaned my SuperForester for it's first time since the MOT in September, cheers Dave!

With the festivities and relations descending upon us towards the end of the week, I'm uncertain how much I'll get done over the festive season. Hopefully at least be able to draw up a plan of parts required and parts that I already have for re-assembing the interior.

Wheels are going for fresh tyres and a refurb on Monday and hopefully out on the road next week for the first time in a long time.
