That's fantastic! I've been looking for a way to keep a standard panel filter instead of having to use a cone when I complete my M52 swap.

Could you share some details of your setup there? How did you get your MAF plug so high up on the airbox, when the hose is going in lower? And how did you seal around where the hose enters the box?

Step 1: cut a hole in the box ...

Thanks for the compliment mate but i really cant takre all the credit,i just copied the idea from here -

I just made a rough guess as to where the hole needed to be cut for the plug, cut it out square then sealed around the final fit with Black silicon sealant.
Where the hose exits,i cut the lip off the box and just trimmed a piece of plastic to fit around the new hose, glued it on and job done!

Just got to get it mounted under the bonnet now, shouldnt be too difficult :)

Look forward to seeing those photos of it installed. Thanks for the link! I see that it was posted earlier in the thread also. I think I need to go looking in a local junker for one of these.

The car looks great. :) So many good looking E30s over there.

Got the M30 airbox fitted today :)

Bit of a mission but worth the effort as it looks so much better and sounds better too.No doubt it should run a bit more efficiently too now its not sucking all the hot air in!

Clearence for the radiator is very limited, less than 5mm if im honest so might look into this at some point, maybe even fit the rad with seperate hewader tank?

For now though itll do,im happy anyway :D

Heres a few pics i took -

Cheers guys!

As said, think ill try and get hold of another radiator and seperate header tank, clearence is very tight, almost touching.
Need to get an E36 P/S reservoir clamp to cause i had to move mine, hopefully using the E36 one it will clear the airbox and not look like a bodge like it does now!

Much better than that daft cone thing 8)

How is the clearance between the box and the throttle linkages? That was my problem which is why I had to move it forward with the M20 rad

Got about 3/4" clearence to the linkage but had to extend the breather pipe a couple of inches as the linkage was stopping it returning smoothly!

I had to cut the cruise control part of the linkage away, even then it was still touching slightly.
Did you mount it to the steel airbox bracket? Yours does look like its sitting lower than mine

Dan this is the best pic ive got of where its mounted.
I just used the original rubber mounting, redrilled the new mounting hole and voila!
Just got to remove it again at some point and reshape the bracket to how it left the factory

Looks so much better, totally factory.

In my books, one of the nicest cars on here. I need to be seeing it in the flesh one day soon.

Seen this in the flesh today....Looks like it should be there from the factory! A real credit to you Eko 8)
Gaffa tape is like "the force" - it has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.
There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tap
