Had to make some minor adjustments to your loom for my gauges, hope it all still fits back together in the car as I don't fancy taping it up a 3rd time!

Very nice work indeed. Don't think I'd have the patience for all that, been tidying up the engine loom on a Mk1 Golf which has just been a case of replacing a few Bosch EV1 plugs and some damaged wires, that was enough tedium for me to stomach!

It took awhile to go, 1-2hrs each time, all the time went into making sure I got the wiring all figured out and routed to the correct side and adding anything (fan, obc temp, hlww etc) to the loom so it can work on both sides.

I think the engine loom with the 3x wires took 1-2 hrs today incl pulling the wires back a little, undoing old tape and adding new. I went through about a dozen crimp end before I got them neat enough for the shrink wrap to fit

It does wrack the brain, I'm not one for writing stuff down but it definitely helps when your dealing with several circuits

I only recently labeled all the wires (maybe 5-6 weeks ago) and wrote down some notes detailing what needed to go where and made a lot more progress since then the previous months!

Hardest part over I think, just soldering of plugs back on. Which brings me to my next question, is there anywhere other than BMW that sells the pigtails? They are expensive and I have a lot of plugs I'd like to have new pigtails for instead of the old fragile ones (Will look better with the new plugs to).

Looks like it's been over 2 years since I've posted an update! You missed nothing, as nothing has really progressed since the last post and probably won't for another few years (part time college to blame for that...)

Anyway, this happened a long time ago in 2012...

Rented a van earlier this year in Feb after a visit a week earlier (thanks Gavin for moral support)

Finish on a dusty bonnet
Image

Unfortunately my patients had run out and most of the parts left (except the bonnet) are unpainted and back in the shed. I think the plan is to keep tipping away at her over the summer and eventually some day drive it to a paint shop to see about getting someone else to finish painting the remainder of the parts or worst case re-paint the whole car again.

She's not looking as bad now, I tried to wash it a little in the shed so some dust is gone since.
