Hey guys,

Finally got around to taking some pics of my car, there not great but i didnt want to stand out in the cold for long!

Let me know what you think, especially of the new wheels as im still undecided. I also think that i should give our DTM car back its rear wing and replace it with an evo sport one?

Specs for those that dont know are as follows -

Macau Blue Cecotto #26/505
Grey heated leather, grey dash (bucket seats installed for track days)
Evo 2 white cam cover + evo sport red HT leads
Racing Dynamics chrome strut brace
Group N H&R coilover suspension
Group A top mounts
Powerflow full exhaust with DTM tails
Rondell 17" style 58's with avon sport tyres
Original DTM mirrors
Original DTM rear wing
Stupid German talking alarm that i cant be arsed to change!

Future plans -

Big brakes (next couple of weeks hopefully)
2.5 conversion with DTM airbox and Alpha N & 284/284 cams
Leather retrimmed
Rob a bank to pay for insurance and other future plans!

Looked rubbish when I saw it on Monday, still looks rubbish now.

I'll give you a grand for it and you can get a proper car like an E36 316i

very nice indeed! Looks immacualte. Wheels look great, better with BMW centres perhaps!!

The rear wing does look odd, get the original size back then it will be perfect.

Thanks for the comments guys, i agree totally about the rear wing, i want a flap but i think il order the evo sport one. The DTM one looks great on the racer but a bit OTT for a road car, plus you can see fcuk all out the back!

its in great condition - is it original paint or has it had paintwork done because 20 years is a long time for paintwork to stay in that condition isnt it? WHats the mileage?

I have that same rear wing on my M3 project, its the DTM larger version, i think it only looks odd because its angle is too steep... i personally like it, it looks rude!!! I also have those same carbon vented wing mirrors, i got them both from Marcus Glaum in Germany where i suspect yours came from too...

If you think YOUR insurance is high you wanna try it once youve swapped in a 3.2 S50 motor and custom suspension and everything else!!!

Oh yeah and had a drink drive ban a year ago!!! Im staring down the barrel of Ԛ£3200 a year!!! Whats yours costing? Did you try Adrian Flux as they are usually the cheapest to insure these cars and i would have thought that you could get yours under a cherished/classic car policy which with limited mileage will make it SO much cheaper than the average broker... I got that policy type for my Alpina B10 and it cost me Ԛ£247.00 a year TPFT even with my ban so id try that route if you havent already... Nice one, its beautiful!!!

Mine is costing about Ԛ£1600, im only 20 so i set the alarm bells ringing with the insurers!! I was paying more when i was 19 too! Are there pics of your project, sounds pretty sweet!

Yea its original paint, iv had the evo 2 splitter and rear bumper resprayed but thats it. The pictures do make it look better than it is, there are no major marks but there are swirls, i have some zaino to get rid of them but im waiting for the weather to get better.

The mirrors came from Markus, i know him quite well. The wing is a spare part from our dtm car. If it was an inch smaller i would be happy but its just a bit to big for my tastes.

The door builds were on it when i bought it, il find out what they are if your interested? The speaker in there were crap though, iv put 2 sets of JL audio components in each door.

Thanks for the offer but I couldnt justify spending what is probably a fair bit just for my old banger, they are the best door builds I've ever seen in a e30 they look so good they could be factory. They compliment what is a very very nice car, fair play to you

My project? im amazed you havent seen it, its the most viewed thread on the zone mate - its the "This true story will make you weep..." thread in the E30 chat section...

when you say "our Dtm car" do i take you to mean that you have an ORIGINAL Group A DTM race car (starts to salivate) as that was the ultimate evolution of the M3, by 1990 the DTM Group A touring cars in their efforts to try and see off the growing Merc 190 Evo II competition which was by this stage getting the upper hand due to their far more advanced aerodynamics (remember the Evo II 190 - its aero kit was loony!!!) they managed to squeeze 380 BHP out of the S14 motor which was pretty stunning for a 2.3 normally aspirated motor in those days!

If you have got one I would think its worth about Ԛ£60,000 these days... talk about the ultimate track day car, if i had the money its what id buy!!!

Yea me and my dad have one, its mainly his, i could only afford to put around 5k towards it but i still get to use it

There are some vids on here somewhere in the photo gallery. Its in fina colours from the belgium touring car series

We are making a half aresed attempt to sell it at the moment because we want to but a different one from a mate of ours, one of the original cecotto DTM's in works colours.

I didnt know of any with 380bhp, ours was rebuilt to 1992 spec which was 360bhp, 2.5 engine and a 10k redline

Ours is worth around 35k but as always, its worth what someone will pay. Its totally original and perfect mechanically (gets rebuild after every 8 track days)

Some of the more famous examples like the world championship cars are worth more, mainly depending on history and current condition.

Would love to race that in Britcar!!! If Andy Rouse had continued with his son racing their Merc 190 DTM car i could have given them a good run for their money in your car!!! I was planning on trying to buy a drive in the Kuhmo series or the Britcar series this year but my project is draining all my finances, however I think I might well be able to fund paying for a drive rather than building my own car as thats just too much money, but when a decent E36 M3 for the Kuhmo or Britcar series costs over Ԛ£20k to build Ԛ£30k or so for a Group A m3 like yours seems a much nicer option!

You could always lease it out to be raced rather than sell it, thats what id do as if its properly insured and looked after it will make you good money that way as opposed to selling it...

If you dont or cant sell it and things go the right way for me in a few months id be interested in that option as i had always wanted to drive that car but there were just none about on offer, only ones like the 2 in Britcar which are non-original and just normal cars tuned up a bit... Did your car have the original ABS race brakes or were they removed when it was retired from racing in anger?

It still has the same brakes, they are awesome but soooo expensive to replace.

A friend of ours is moving to new zealand and he has a collection that includes 7 DTM M3's. The one we want is the original Cecotto DTM car from 1992. Basically the same spec but better race history. Its the one iv always wanted because iv got the cecotto road car.

We have until mid april to sell it before he moves, he has already found someone else who wants it for a motorsport museum in the states but we have first refusal.

Flippin eck! thats stunning fella. i agree the wing is a little ott for road use but still, its awesome! Wheels are spot on mate, bmw centres would finish them off a treat.

Il post some pics of the DTM next time we have it home, we dont keep it here, its kept in storage with the guy who services it. There are a couple of really bad ones when it was getting rebuilt on here somewhere aswell as a load of onborad vids.

i must say i know a few have to be but im not a fan of shutting pure bred race cars away in museums forever when there are viable club series where the public can see these awesome machines doing there thing you know? When i was at Brands Hatch in 2004 making a film for my friends Le mans sportscar team on a test day the Britcars were testing there too and it was just an awesome sound to hear Andy Rouse's Merc 190 Evo II
hammering down the back straight into the S before clearways full chat, i dont have any respect for rich guys who take these kind of cars out and pootle around in them either, they are for racing and its so nice for people that never got to see an M3 of any kind racing to see such cars in action, sadly there's not one out there, there was a ex-Linder car sporadically in 2004 out there but not being driven properly...

Oh well! If the museum bid is the highest one then thats where its gonna go I guess!

I say SHAME! Im lucky, i fell in love with the M3 when i went with my Dad to the ETCC races in 1988 and saw the pukka Group A cars doing there thing, i was supporting the Nissan Skyline GTS-R team who my dad was working with but I really fell in love with the BMW M3 at that point...

im with quinn direct mate.....that mite be why also- i have
my own insurance and i have only had my license since feb last year
and i obviously have no claims so that doesnt help.

Looks lovely mate, wheels suit it very well, E30 M3 needs wheels with a dish, they just suit so well.

Not so fussy on the DTM flap tough, if you had the full DTM look it wouldn't look so out of place though!
