I did not paint the lines, that is the way they come from the factory. And for a good reason, being they are in the front of the car suceptable to road grit abrasion, etc. Zinc plating would not hold up as well.

Was looking at either cleaning up mine or just buying new and see new parts look to have just a zinc coating from new now.

Wow, I'm surprised to see that, but then again, not really.
The original coating was way more durable, I believe.

Yellow passivate is being phased out due to it releasing a minuscule of carcinogenic gas when it corrodes. Hence all new parts no longer come yellow.
