pacerpete wrote:Dare I say, it looked like a pretty decent car before you started ! I am led to believe than unless you are Bill Gates, it is a VERY difficult and VERY expensive bureaucratic nightmare to import a car less than 25 years old that was not available in the US . Are you Bill Gates ? :)

Keep the pics coming , I think I speak on behalf of everyone here when I say that we will never tire of looking at pics of a car of that quality ! :D
LOL, no, I'm not Bill Gates by a long shot, just a guy who had a dream of owning a car he's loved since the day he first laid eyes on one.
As for the condition, it was pretty bad, and it was astonishing to me a car of this provenance would have been treated so shabbily.
There was never a doubt I would do everything I could to return it to its formal glory.
You're right, it is a nightmare importing a car in all aspects, but it was well worth it.

Lagoon green is a superb colour, and was really an E36 colour used on very late E30 Convertibles (even lowly 318i versions) and Tourings. It was replaced in 1993 by Boston green, a markedly inferior shade.

We like a bit of BMW Individual/sonderlack. :D

Staggering work fella, not many on here can claim to have taken their restorations to this level...

Did you rebuild engine and gearbox also?

well done, a man after my own heart !
so many introduce extras that weren't present during the OEM build, it completely spoils the cars originality IMO,

great car and a super effort I love it :D

So here's the link to the article about the restoration.
I think it pretty much sums it up.
Thanks again for your input.

He loves an M3 cream puff. :)

Regrettably, I love the tin tops, but have never liked the cabs. The lines are all wrong. Having said that, I have to applaud the effort and work and look forward to the updates :)

This is the best thing I've ever seen!

Imagine if it was malachite and hard top. Then my family would be for sale.

A new benchmark for sure, great effort and unwavering focus over 4 long years. This could be the sticky for the Member's E30s.

For that, Mike, you will have to post all your pics :)

Thanks, i appreciate your comments, but there are a lot of really nice cars on this site, I'm just glad you guys appreciate mine among them.
As for pictures, I have over 3500 and choosing ones to post is a little tricky.
If there is any anything in particular you want to see, just let me know and I'll put em' up.
Thanks.

Some random stuff, cluster connecter before being sealed with correct security wire, after crimp, dashboard cable harness, correct drip tar tape on AC expansion valve, security wire and "BMW" lead seal on speedo sensor.
