So finally got her back from the Panelbeaters after someone turned into me on the motorway.

I was not impresed, also managed to get the rest of the stuff sorted on it and the wheels finally came back.

I dont miss the blue wheels one bit

Cool looking wheels, but those wheelnuts look tricky to get to, being so heavily shrouded! :?

Good thinking. Sweet looking car. 8) What sort of fuel economy do you get with a turbo 325i?

I have no idea on fuel consumption, this is my toy so fill up when I need to however much i need to for the joy ride.

Rear bumper is a Tech II bumper , but with the insert from an E36 M3 . Basically the diffuser part is moulded into the stock bumper.

I actually dont like it......but I could not afford the bumpers I wanted for the car.

No this was a standard item , well here it was, the one which took the euro plates was actually optional.

I have the euro one , if you want we can talk about you having this one ..

ive noticed alot on gumtree.co.za dont have number plate surrounds even on facelifts (bit between lights)

What sort of prices would you pay for a full respray in Johannesburg ? price in rand is fine

what rough prices should you be paying for e30's over there for 6 pot and 4 pot models. are chrome bumper models usually cheaper ?

Are they hot with car theives ? do the theives prefer 6 pot models more so than 4 pots, same goes for 4 door and 2 doors ?

I guess its down to personal taste with the number placte surround, I have always had one so will keep it on.

Full price on a respray can be anywhere from R10 000 (£600) to R20 000 (£1300) depending on the person doing the work and the skill level.

E30's here are going for crazy money at the moment , a stock 318i Facelift 2 door can go for R35000.00 (£2300.00) with 325i Facelift and in good condition demanding upwards of R60 000.00, I have seen some crazy ticket prices up to R90 000.00 for a 325i with minor work (wheels , drop , interior) .

A 325iS (2.7liter) will sell between R80 000 and R180 000 depending on Evo I and Evo II and the milage and condition. ( £5000 - £12 000)

6 pots are obviously more popular and we never got the convertible here , only the Baur Cabriolet. So there are a few of them around.

Theives love these cars, not to strip them but to own them , they are very sort after in the underground world and once your car is gone you can forget seeing it ever again, hence I did not post my location. But it's not anywhere near Rif Road.

I am scared to drive the car most days, if someone sees it and likes it they wont think anything of jacking me and the car .

Coming back to live here, and you want an E30.

Do you value your life .......better options out there if you are coming back, why not bring a car from that end of the world.

Chromie in decent nick, about R28k .

Johannesburg is notorious for E30's being hijacked or stolen out of parking lots.

Cape Town where I'm from is not as risky to own an E30, but I still dont go to a shopping centre with mine anymore.

@Alex, a decent E30 goes for the same price as an equivalent E36 or E46 Beemer. I would suggest not owing a 318/316i in Johannesburg though. The place sits quite high above altitude & makes a car feel hugely under-powered

I must admit i drove a 2012 Chevrolet Aveo (Sonic in SA) in Johannesburg in December and it felt so under powered for a 1.6 felt like a 1.2. Once at sea level in Durban it had plenty more power :D

You can imagine what it was like driving a 1.2 auto aswell even worse

Alex I feel your pain. We drove a Mk1 Golf 1.4i rental car (only sold in SA) & my foot was flat the whole time.

Then we bought a Nissan Sentra 200 STI with the SR20 motor as standard & it didnt feel much more powerful than the Golf.

We drove it down to Cape Town & I kid you not, as we got closer to Cape Town the car got stronger & stronger. On the N1 highway we were cruising at 200kph & the motor had still more to give. We were literally wheelspinning out of the tunnel just after the last tollgate right outside CT.

So if you looking for a nice car in Jhb, get a turbo car maybe??

Maybe something like what Shaheen has winkeye
