cheers guys, only got it a week ago :) all for just £1100!! no major rust, just a few tiny bubbles, interior is mint :) bought of a really genuine guy who pointed out every little detail.

not sure on the plans atm as I have a mkII cortina 1600E and a mkII Golf GTI 16V to finish first :), but a new exhaust manifold is on the cards this month :) and tidying up little bubbly bits under the bonnet and on the rear arches, need to do the speakers also because they are nackered!

hmmm, she's got a very lumpy idle and she back fires on the run down, and the guy I bought it off said its got a hot cam in it but wasn't sure what, he thinks its too lumpy to be the Alpino cam. I hope its got a cam in it otherwise its running very rough if it hasn't!!!

How much effect does a 6 branch exhaust manifold make on these engines? I've heard they make a big difference, and looking under the bonnet the standard one looks pretty restrictive.

Welded up some rusty holes behind the front wheels, and welded up a broken seat frame.

Havent really had much time to do anything else yet :(

~To come~

I have finally fitted a Hydrogen Generator to the beemer!

Image

fitting the switch, (I chose to you a BMW fog-light switch)

Image

Fitting the relay behind the glove box.

Image

Fitting the Ammeter in the centre console

Image

Wiring to the battery and pulse width modulator

Image

The fitted ammeter

Image

Image

the fitted generator and reservoir

After many tests, the average MPG on a short journey has gone up from 22.8 mpg to 30.1 mpg, and on a run has gone from 28.7 mpg to 35.5 mpg.

Emissions wise, before the generator was fitted, these were the results:

at 2000 rpm
Unburnt hydrocarbons : 237ppm
CO: 0.88%

after the generator was fitted, these are the new results:

at 2000 rpm
Unburnt hydrocarbons : 128ppm
CO: 0.27%

so Im saving money and emissions
