got some se side skirts i want 2 fit, got all the clips and stuff, how dificult is it, anyone done it themselves before? is there a fitting guide i can print off or a template to get the holes in the right place. thanks
The clips at the top of the side skirt will require drilling in the sills. Although I drilled "by eye" for the front valence and rear valence bottom clips, I didn't take a chance for the skirts: There are jigs available from BMW (have a look on realoem for PN) But I still skimped a bit and only bought the lh one. adapted it to the right side afterwards...
Don't forget that the clips actually fit inside plastic captive grommets.
Extensive waxoiling is a good idea after drilling and before fitting anything. as is white grease and/or paint around the holes.
The bottom clips just clamp the skirt and the sill together, and are the same as the SE skirts ones (if you had them on) The front bottom section also reuses the SE skirt mountings (1 nut and 1 self tapper if I remember correctly)
IIRC, there are specific clips for the front and rear of the skirts inside the arches, but seeing that I didn't want to drill big holes there, I just went for black pop rivets.
You can also use a bodywork adhesive (tigerseal alike) to stick them on. It will not budge, but will make it a real *** if you ever have to remove them for any reason/repair.
