I have a wet carpet just in the drivers footwell and can't work out where its coming from. I have felt around the carpet and don't think it is coming from the centre console area as this is dry. The plastic membrane between the door panel and door is fine so its not that.

I'm sure its rain water as it's not losing coolant.

I've had the wheel arch liner off and the inner wing is fine, as is the inside of the scuttle. The 'elephants trunk' is also clear.

Could it be the drivers side front sunroof drain thats the problem? How do you get access to it to see if it is split/dislodged, and where does it come out. I've fed some curtain wire down the hole but can't work out where it ends up.

Any suggestions gratefully received as I am stumped. I don't want to have to revert to a full car cover!!

I found a damp drivers footwell in my driveway ornament, on closer inspection it sems the clutch master cylinder has leaked and infact the carpet is soaked in clutch fluid.

I'm keen to see any suggestions on this - mine seems to have a wet drivers side footwell too! Soon as there's a day with half decent weather I'm going to get the carpet out and see what I can find.

As with dann-p's car, my scuttle, elephant trunk and wheel arch seem fine.

It's not coming from the above the pedals either, and my plastic membrane's fine as well!

I don't think it's clutch fluid because it's not dropping at all in the reservoir.

I've not managed to have a close inspection underneath either, but hope to soon.

I hope and pray it's not like jaistanley's though!!

So what does everyone think??

Fortunately mines not like jaistanleys, but I fear that if I don't get it sorted it will be!!

A mate suggested it could be the windscreen seal thats gone. Does anybody know how to check this? Can you get a good view of it if you remove the instrument cluster?

On the E30's I've had, a wet driver, passenger or rear footwells has nearly always been caused by the plugs/bungs directly under the footwells in the floorplan. They simply rot over time. Easily cured by some silicone sealant or minor welding and underseal.
