If they're really not moving a lot of lube & heat will be needed and, I would suggest, a good set of stilsons.

Not on any of the cars I've worked on...

As Chris said, lube and heat will help a lot.

Technically easier top replace the lot, but worth persisting with the ends first :)

If yo have the time to allow them to soak ie a damn good spray every night for a week say, then use a product called PLUSGAS its a penertrating oil come release oil, abit like wd40 but miles better, I swear by it after it got me out of a pickle with my swing arm bolt on my off road bike that had siezed onto its bearings, a two ton strong back wouldnt even touch it so a week of a quick spray every night then on the saturday morning one good hit with the hammer and out she came ace stuff if you can find it.

WURTH releasing spray is also good. Personally I'd just replace inner and outer cos if the threads are furked then there is a good chance they'll be furked on the rod too.

Common cure for a stuck trackrod end is red heat, get the lock-nut glowing then blast with WD-40 or simillar then crack it off with a spanner, decent molegrips on the track rod will probably help, as will wire-brushing the exposed thread before heating.

Another thing that works is fly spray, i didn't beleave it either untill i tried it, it was about a quid in the DIY store and i thought that was worth paying to find out if it was true 8)

Whats all this plusgas and heat? Anyone who has changed old E36 rod ends knows the only way to crack on with the job is to plug in the grinder :)

A big hammer to release it and a chisel to slightly open up the slot do help as well.

Yeah if your replaceing it, the heat will make it expand off the threaded bar enough to get it off.

Just be a bit careful with it being so hot and it should work nicely :)
