Have read both on here and am still unsure what to use?

It's the whole assembly, inner and outer.

So some threadlock or get proper lock washers and do all that stuff?

I'd get the proper lock plates, they're only pence..

Probably alot more secure than threadlock too!

I have ordered them.

I assume it's self explanatory how they fit from the old one's.

Does this part (inner tie-rod to steering rack) also need correct torque values?

I found the lock plates from BMW didn't fit at all that well.

I used lock thread as well

I got a set of lock plates from BMW but couldn't work out how they fit at all, so I got another set from ECP - completely different and fitted perfectly!
