Hi Guys & Girls

just done my first full tank of fuel around the town...not had it long so ive been a bit heavy on the gas but i only got about 200 miles ( 12-15MPG )...does this seem right,i know there firsty in Urban traffic but geez, this is going to cost me a bomb to run..lol..it has a pipercross airfilter fitted which would make a SMALL difference,i have the stock Air filter here too but am leaving it off for the time being

i have another question:

Im used to driving a 2.0 Dturbo all day for work so im probably conparing them a bit but here we go..

when i put my foot down it doesnt seem to do much untill about 2.5-3000RPM then it goes like a rocket and has massive amount of Torque but like i said for the intial period, doesnt seem that quick..though i do realize it is a straight 6 and non turbo, non 16v etc etc so maybe im expecting too much?

any help or advice would be appreciated ( any 325 owners, please tell me,this seems about right)

cheers

Carl

That all sounds about right to be fair.

Around town you'll see very small MPG due to pumping those 6 cyls all the time. Not the most efficient engine unfortunately.

Once you wind it up to about 3.5k it should start moving pretty quickly, if not somethings up with it!

:D

 If I can get 29-30mpg around town from my 325i, anyone can!

It's got less to do with the efficiency of the engine than how efficient your driving is.

Theres a load of info on here about sorting your car to give decent MPG - someone even wrote a guide

Have a look on the search function and look for the words motronic & mpg

Nobody i know can either.

Proper town/urban (major city) driving will give much less than 30mpg.

I think the lowest I've seen as an average is 25.6 M/G and I drive it pretty hard everywhere.

I guess that figure will plummet when the 2.7 is in... Can't have everything

Aah, wouldn't go too much on the computer thing, if you fill 'er up and reset the trip thing, drive as normal for a week and then fill it up again (at the same pump if poss) then calculate it from that :)

I guess if you live somewhere majorly busy then it'll never be any good, but I used to drive 7 miles to work every day which took about 30mins. I cycle the same route in about the same time every day now which means I must've spent a fair amount of time going nowhere in the car....and still got 29-30 mpg.

Even used to get about 28mpg out of my old 205GTi!

Hello all...

only my 3rd postԚ….. Just a quick question. I canÔš't seem to get my OBC to work? It tells the time ok, and the stopwatch works but all the others just say PPPP mp/g. What does that mean? It is an original OBC as I have a 325i SE. Any ideas?

Ps. I worked out that I can get 27mpg from long motorway runs, round town I struggle to get 20mpg.

I'd get it fixed if I were you. I try and drive everywhere at '30 mpg', unless I'm going for a quick thrash, and generally manage to get that. My econometer broke for a while and my consumption dropped into the low 20's as I had no way of knowing how inefficiently I was driving. Admittedly I don't do much stop start town driving and when I do it noticeably affects consumption.
As someone else says you need to alter your driving style, difficult I know with all that power and noise asking to be unleashed, which is where I find the gauge comes in very handy.

I had a spare giving to em,went through all the hassle of fixing it and the thing was broke too..typical! ..though he warned me of that first :P

guess i can get a second hand cluster and have one outa that..
