E30 Zone

my headunit is refusing to do anything i have wired it up with the iso through the glove compartment, but it will not turn on !!!!!

Am sure i have wired it up correctly , have checked the fuses, and know there must be power as the old one worked

any ideas what it could be???

have i shorted it???

Have you got an earth?

yeh thats connected up, its on the iso lead

on the headunit. . . there should be 2 main power wires. . continuous and ignition. you probably only got power goin to the ignition. . .

you need power going to the continuous (yellow wire) aswell. . .in order for the system to work.

that might be the problem. . .if not the headunits probably faulty!

You have a multimeter?

have got both the ignition and constant power connected up but no joy although the the destruction say that the +12 constant and ignition can be different on other vehicles but sapping those would go against the wiring !!!!

only wire from the iso not connected the blue and white one which i dont need

only wires from the car not connect are the red and white electric aerial cables but aerial motor not plugged in so am stumped

will be well pissed if the headunits f.....d as the cambridge is crap

yeh i should really check the sockets but making assumptions is easier

have just checked with meter an basically yellow one is not working so no constant power

does this mean i have got them wrong way around ??? or does the ignition just blip when u turn the ignition and not just stay on permanent

solved it for some reason the " illumination" orange wire on the iso is the constant and not the yellow one ????????? so will use that instead !!!1 thanks matt
