rev counter died

My rev counter died this morning, I checked the fuse 12, it's fine, what else should I check?

Connection to the diff is sadly irrelevant - that's just for the speedo.
Chances are that your SI board batteries have lived their last.

have you changed fuse 12 or just checked it id change it fo one i know is good !.

looks like it's fine, last time when this problem happened my fuse was dead but CD player didn't worked either.
I changed those batteries inside last year
Should I start looking for new tacho?

one thing more, before this happened I disconected battery over night, we had to do some repair on alternator

fuse 10 and 12 changed, battery disconected 2 times....nothing
what to do?

found replacement dash from 1993 320i conv.

please let me know if this fixes the problem cause i have the same problem
where abouts are these batterys fitted in the dash
any other ideas welome
oh by the way the car is a 1987 320i if that makes any difference

I had the same problem a year ago, my temp gauge and service lights were gone. I took my cluster and take it to replace those batteries and some electric components inside that were gone. After job done, instruments worked fine, but problems appeared again, temp and fuel gauges started to read incorrect and now all the indicators are gone, so I had no other option except buy a whole used instrument cluster
