Can't find the fuel filter on a 325i

A couple of days ago I asked where the fuel filter is on a 325i. Apparently it's supposed to be under the car in front of the driver's side rear wheel arch. I can't find it! I've jacked the car up and it's not there. Could it be under a cover or some sort of shield?

I got the car up in the air, had a good look around and couldn't see it. If you say it's there I'll keep looking. Cheers. Peter

under the bonnet, near side (passenger side), attached to the inner wing low down, nearer to the baulkhead than the grill, about the size of a can of beans

fuel filter is in front of the passenger rear wheel area, there is a cover you need to remove to get to it
the thing described by maggspower above sounds like the carbon canister on late or cat equipped model

Six pot E30s have the filter in front of the rear left wheel arch; four pots have it low down at the back left side of the engine bay.
No idea why they stuck them in such an inaccessible place on the six pots, as there's plenty of room in the engine bay.

Pre facelift 325i fuel filters are located as above
