Tow bar comes off easily enough, but you'll have to either find some suitable grommets, or refit the bolts to fill the holes. There are two large hex or torx bolts that you can see from underneath the bumper. Remove these, pull the bumper straight back and off, and you will see the fixing bolts. Some of the nuts and the spreader plates will be behind the panel at the back of the load space,
The electrics aren't exactly plug in, and the black socket will be connected to the loom somewhere along the back panel into the LH pocket, to as far as the bulb failure module if you have one. Easiest to cut right through the cable, strip off a few inches of the outer sheath, tape up the wires individually, then tuck it in behind the rear fibre panel.
The grey socket, if it's connected properly, will run right through the car and over to the battery, where it will go through a split charge relay.
Funnily enough, I was going to order a brand new E30 towbar this evening, so, if it's a decent make, I might be interested. Might even be able to get it removed for you for free in exchange for it, if you're prepared to drive as far as Uffington, near the White Horse.

at the moment the car isnt road legal as im trying to do some bits to it before i tax it. or else i would never get around to it.
will have a look for you tomorrow to see what the brand is if its visible. or i could send you some pics.
but you are welcome to it, if it comes off ok.
swindon isnt that far away from where you are and im always going up the a420 for work, so could drop it in if it does turn out to be suitable.

It's my brother in law that has a workshop near Uffington, not me, but he owes me a favour or two!
Pics would be good - I'll PM you my email addy. If it's a good one like a Witter, and not a Towsure cheapy, and isn't too rusty, then we could be in business!
