yeah depending on the model you might have to cut a slit in it to slide it out over the pedals and steering you'll need the rear bench up to get the little sliver out and also both sections of the centre console (handbrake, gear stick surround) but it really is an easy job

Surely not easy, a boring job, especially because of the drying part of that heavy spongy part.
And the throtlle pedal will be tricky, I recommend cutting a part instead of dismantling the throttle pedal but you'll see for yourself once you get there.

the only way i could get mine out, and back in right was to take the dash off as well. then there is no need to cut any thing. big arse on tho.

as i said before it depends what model you have i've taken the carpet out of my 318is and it was around my steering and accelerator so i wasnt about to start dismantaling the steering when i could just cut a line up th back of it and slide it out.and id say it was a very easy job that i've done numerous times and the actual remove shouldnt take more than an hour. dont forget the door sill protectors. even an idiot with no experiance could do it an a couple of hours. i wish people would take the time to read the thread if you looked he actually plans to put a new carpet in so it wont take him any time to dry any carpet.
p.s dont leave the carpet out if its a daily runner cos it is just too noisy.imo

You can normally take an E30 carpet out, pressure wash it with truck wash, dry it out and put it back in with it ending up looking like a brand new one.
