Got to replace my prop coupler on my 325 Tourer, have a choice of Lemforder from ECP or Febi from a local german car specilist, the price is virtually identicle but which is best to go for?!?
Cheers!

As far as I know both come out the same factory.. Fibi would be my choice though.

Both Very strong brands - I'd go Lemforder since they are OEM on so many BMW parts.
They deffo know what they're at - same company as ZF.

Lemforder are OEM equipment for some parts for BMW E30, e.g. front wishbones. Heard Febi was inferior quality. Had a set of Febi brake discs once which warped pretty quick after fitting.

Lemforder is much higher quality than Febi. Febi is just not bad.

I've done a taste test and brought both
The Febi part came in a Febi box, the part is marked Made in Germany, has arrows and a diagram showing how to line it up and the rubber looks clean and well moulded.
The Lemforder part came in a plastic bag, has no markings for how to line it up and the rubber molding isnt very clean, it is however marked with the BMW part number
So which do i fit lol, i am once again confuddled!!
Cheers,
Matt

Just because it has the BMW part number on it doesn't make it genuine, There was a program on TV a few years back surrounding ECP and there parts suppliers, an undercover group went to some 'dodgy' manufactures and asked if they could 'manufacture OE parts' yeah no problem they said, get us the part number you want and well mark it on anything....
Use the Febi part!

I think they are both OEM suppliers to BMW, and they even both make some of the same parts.
For example, I think they both do Control Arms and Control Brackets.
There's a thread on here that says BMW only select part runs from these manufacturers that
reach or exceed certain tolerances/qualities/strength - that's when BMW snaps them up, stamps them
with the Roundel and ships them out as Original Parts.
I assume that any parts they supply during actual manufacture must reach those same standards in the first place.
It's not the same as parts supplied AFTER manufacture, for replacement use.

Well, i have an E21 and a mate worked at a parts department in a motor factors, and he got me 2 strut top mounts made by febi to match the Bilstein sports suspension and it cme in a febi box with papers e.t.c. and on the mounts it self had the bmw stamp and the bmw part number. i phoned bmw up and gave that part number to match it and they told me exactly what i had in my hand, i got each one for £12, at bmw they quote me £52 each, and they come from the same factory, now what would you do?? That was a touch and a`arf
I was laughing like a fat MOFO bhuda!!

I've got febi rear top mounts and they seem to be really well moulded. I'm not hearing any bangs or knocks as of yet so fingers crossed they will stay like that for a while.
