E30 Zone

Looking for tips on how best to attempt removing this tiny dent.
Not expecting it to be invisible,highly unlikely but dont want to make it any worse either.
Plan is to take the wing off tomorrow and lie it face down on a table and press it out.Obviously ill put a blanket beneath it so as not to scratch it.
What would be the best thing to `push` it with?
Would applying a little heat(hairdryer) make it any more managable?Sorry if this seems a bit of a simple post,just trying to avoid making a mess of it

if its gone through the paint will need painting anyway, what condition is the rest of the wing, if its scabby at the bottom might aswell replace full wing, if not try pushing out but be carefull, every time ive tried on various cars it always looked worse, dentmaster perhaps

put it on table and hit it as hard as you can with a bfh

i used a rounded rubber mallet with a plastic end the other side but on a bigger dent

soft panel dolly on the paint side and cairfully with a tapping hammer, but it wont disapear compleatly.

incidently what colour is that?

Ive heard of panel beaters RUBBING dents like this out using "dollys" these are lumps of metal that are shaped for different dent scenarios! they literally keep pressure on the back of the dent and rub it back to the orig shape.

That's how it's done. You should always bring a dent towards you.
It's not done by rubbing though. You need a selection of lightweight special steel hammers to tap the front of the panel.

Dolly sounds the best idea so far.Think OBs should have some of those knocking about his garage so hopefully he will se this post!

Out of interest is there much paint damage done this way when done by a pro?

Paint will be damaged, yes.
That dent looks like it's quite deep, but covers a small area. If so, the metal has been stretched, and it'll be difficult to get it back flat.
If it's as it looks to me, I'd consider just filling it with lead or filler.

Very doubtful ill even be keeping the car so may even just leave it for the new owner to decide

knock it out as much as possible but its too small to warent any expensive repair work imo.

If i would have to repair it.

1. Check if dent can be repaired with some hammering (just little)
2. Sand
3. Primer
4. P38
5. Sand
6. Prime
7. Paint

i took my cab to one a company here specialising in paint less dent removal, i had two dents, one was about 1.5 inches long but not too deep, it was on the rear quater accessed from inside the boot. they used all sorts of wierd and wonderful tools incluing small hammers and long bars/rods with sharp ends covered in felt. they basically ''massaged' the dent out from the inside by pushing with these different sharp rods, they would work on one area from the inside, then hammer from the outside with what looked like a plastic hammed, then back inside. When i took the car there i was really sceptical, but honestly once they finished (about 20 mins) i could not see anything, the paint was completely unaffected. They claimed - if the dent was made without breaking the paint they could repair it - no matter how deep. But it certainly was not a DIY jobbie - these boys knew what they were doing

Well thanks for the advice and tips guys.
Decided to take the wing off and have a go anyway and all things considered I dont think its come out too bad
Ill have to get a touch up pen from Paul(zimmerbimmer) but the dent has more or less vanished!
I heated up the area with a hairdryer first.Wether this helped or not im not really sure but certainly didnt harm it.I then used a deep socket to lightly roll the dent out.
Heres a couple of pics I took just after refitting the wing although it was pretty hard to get a pic showing the dent at an angle.(bear in mind it still needs paint touching in.

i'll find out for you tomorrow will ask the bloke at work i think he sticks it to the dent and pulls it out. I think it would all depend on the sharpness of the dent though he knows what he's doing its amazing to watch

Well too late for me but would be good to hear how its done,maybe a video to show?

i don't think i'd get away with a video to be honest theres a big window where the boss sits next to his work bay i'd get a right earfull if i stood there too long lo
