hi, i posted a message the other day regarding the transplant of a pre-facelift 2.7 into a facelift h-reg. which i was advised that i would need to use the later loom. well im about to fit it up and noticed a plug going up to the bottom of the throttle body. my engine throttle body does not have that connection! will i be able to just leave the plug out without a problem? or will i need to chang the throttle body? thanks for all the advice, id be scratchin my head over this for some time!!!!! dave.

Well if its going upo to the throttle body it'll either be the throttle position sensor or the Idle control Valve. Can't think of much else going up to there.
Anyone else got any other ideas?

I would imagine you would swap the throttle body so that you can include the Throttle position sensor (TPS), as the later ECU will be looking for its values, but sure Dr Moore will be along shortly to say for sure

Did the pre-facelift 2.7 not have a throttle position sensor

doubt it was on carbs or a full MAF setup is it?

it has the tps and the idle control valve already, this is somethin else! it goes between the tps and where the throttle body joins to the inlet, with a little valve inline and a pipe which goes to the fuel filter canister looking thing! whatever it is! the one which is held on with two jubilee clips wher the fuel lines enter the engine comp.

Well from what u described that sounds like a way of dumping a massive undefined amount of fuel directly into the inlet manifold via some sort of switch.
It'll run massively rich. Maybe some dodgy backfire or flame kit. Doesn't sound like anything I've seen. Fuel is injected via the injectors. How else would you do it? Maybe LPG conversion??? But Y would it go to the fuel filter???

fack nows but the connecting plug is part of the loom so its not an after-market thing! ive had four e30's which ive stripped and re-buit, done all sorts with em but they have all been eirly ones, this is a h-reg and the loom is quite different! most of it i can sort but need to know what it is, what it does and if i can just leave it out! in my experianse the less plug shitters you have the better!!!!

sounds more like part of the emission control kit for cat equipped cars to me. most post facelift cars have the extra plug in the loom which is unused and just taped back so i cant see this being a problem if it is left unplugged.
a couple of things to check on a non starter are fuel feed and return pipes on the wrong way round and with post facelift engines you can get the two black plugs below the round diagnostic port the wrong way round.
