can anyone tell me how to identify if it's got the eta engine??

think these engines are called an m30

it's got "2.5/2.8" stamped on the inlet manifold if this helps

An E28 525e has the ETA engine and it is an E20 not E30, you have found an M30 525i

If it's a 525i with the M30 engine, then no, it's not the eta.

It would have to say 525e on the back for it to be a 2.7 M20.

Sounds like an m30 lump with that on the manifold. So its not an eta lump they are a 525e with the m20 lump.

yeah it's an m30 then  wats the power out put of these? just out of curiosity

would hardly be worth putting it into a e30 as a replacment for an m20 b25

Strip it out, you'll still have fun, I had an e28 528 with the same lump I think they are about 182 bhp. It was a great laugh. Shed some kilos and drift. 8)

just make it work as it is and use it as a drift/track slag. Does the engine turn over?

dunno if it starts and at 150bhp she can rot, would be far to lazy for drifting, i already drift competitivly so not really intereasted in tramp drifters

i'm developing a 24v gsi carlton this year, (maybe that is tramp drifter to use boys)

not much done yet stripped completly out, full roll cage, proper bucket seats, 5 point harness's

it's hard to believe how easy they are to steer in a 3rd gear drift :D

i drift in bishopscourt in downpatrick, northern ireland and in donegal

is there many on here drifting??

The 525i was more of a motorway cruiser. A lovely smooth old thing in its day.

Monkey would be the man to talk to about that he seems to organise stuff. But murran seems to do some events too.

I would go to tramp drift but i love my car too much, wanna build a 2 door just for that soon
