Can someone tell me how to remove the lock barrel from the steering column? Its on a 1991 318 touring.
Cheers.

Get a paper clip, open it out.
Put the key in the ignition, and the long pin(clip) into the hole. You need to make sure it's a straight clip. Put in as far as it will go.
turn the key to posi 1 or there abouts and you should feel the pin slide further into the hole.
Once it goes in, jiggle the key and push the pin in and the lock should come out.
If it doesn't, try turning the key while pushing and jiggling the pin.
hope this helps

Done a couple of these and it is trial and error. The paperclip has to be a strong one.
