Hey there.
Is there a guide on here that anyone has written regards the process of changing the fanbelt on a 318i M40 engined car? I have my fanbelt at the ready but need a little advice.
Thanks in advance.
Pauly

This is straight forward to do by slackening the alternator mouting bolts and adjuster
1. slacken the nut and bolt which runs through the alternator nearest the engine(if you slcken them all it wont do any harm)
2. using a socket on the alternator adjuster nut turn this anticlockwise and the alternator will move towards the engine.
3. slip off the old belt and put on the new
4. retension the alternator adjuster so that you have about 1/2 inch deflection in the centre of the belt
5. retighten the mounting bolts and recheck the tension.
Good luck
