Hi just done mine, needed to drop exhaust and prop shaft and remove gear linkages.

I took gear box out and did all the seals and clutch however can be done in situ, trick is to ensure gear selector shaft is full in eg in 2nd gear. There is grove around selector rod and when fully in it allows you to just get in under lip of seal with a small screw driver and lever it out, DO NOT probe/dig any deeper or you'll scatch side of shaft and it'll leak even more!

Good luck

PS Good time to fit z3 quick shift lever at same time, VG upgrade.

Cheers for the advice Spankie, luckily the gearbox will be out of the car (4th time this year) so should be fairly straight forward by the sounds of it.

Z3 lever is already in there btw!
