Am I right in thinking a small split on a brake caliper rubber means the caliper is now gash?

If so, looks like I need a new rear one. :(

a seal repair kit is about £35 iirc and has all seals and rubber boots needed to refurb a pair of calipers, either front 2 or rear 2 and can also be bought from ECP.
recon calipers can also be bought from ECP for about £45 each iirc on an exchange basis and look much better as they are nice and shiny and someone else has done the dirty work.
easy enough to do yourself though with basic experience

I take it, with a caliper repair kit you totally dismantle them, clean 'em up etc...? If so I like that option... £70 versus the £300 or so ECP want for the calipers.

Point taken, but I'm fitting replacement calipers to my car so I may as well fit tidy ones.

£300 8O i got a couple of fronts from them about 18 moths ago and they were £45 ish each on an exchange basis.you do have to pay a refundable deposit that you get back when you hand in your old calipers but i cant remember how much that was.
stripping down and doing it yourself is simple enough with basic tools.
